91 pounds

ok, i know this forum's supposed to be for fat LOSS, but I didn;'t know where else to post this.

I'm a 5'5" girl who ways 91 pounds.
I don't know about you, but I feel that's a bit too skinny.
People have called me 'toothpick' and some (less considerate) induvidual made up a song about me supposedly being anorexic.

I'm tired of this, and, ideally, I'd like to start off by gaining 3-4 pounds.

Unfortunatley, even when I eat more, it doesn't work! I spent a number of weeks eating over 3,500 calories a day, and the day after I stopped, I lost all the water weight that had built up, and within four days, I was back down to 91 (and recently, it's been fluctuation between 90 and 91)

I can't seem to put on weight, and I think that's very strange, because at one point in my life, I was actually fairly heavy!! I

Does someone have adivce for me?

Well.....I would try to consume more calories, as you've been doing, and try to do some weight lifting as well. Not bulky weight lifting, but some nice, toning exercises as they may help to add lean muscle mass, ie build mass and strength. However.....the lean muscle mass could also increase your metabolism, so I'm not sure. Try to consume more protein as well.....protein shakes, healthy fat, not peanut butter, cheeseburger fat. If you need any help, just im me at yahoo or aim at this sn. Hope it helps.

First, see your doctor! You could have some sort of thyroid or pancreatic disfunction. If your doctor says there is nothing wrong, then a good weight training program coupled with a good high calorie, high protien diet should help you add some muscle mass.

Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum. This is the first time I post a reply, though I would logon every now and then to see what was going on to keep myself updated.
In response to your concerns about weight gain, let me start by stating that I am facing similar issues. I am a recovering anorexic
and was a big girl my entire life.
I had to follow a specific food regimen that was mandatory to avoid being hospitalized. Let me state that your metabolism at this point is very high and you may consume very large amount of calories without gaining an ounce. I am sure at this point your eating patterns tend to fluctuate and you do not consume such a large amount of calories on a daily basis. The key to putting on the weight is consistency, NEVER skip meals and try to focus on light exercise to avoid muscle atrophy. It is a long and strenuous process but it can be achieved in moderation. Focus on high carb foods. Usually, an average person whose main focus is either weight loss or maintenance, would consume a protein and a carb at every meal. In your case, bump that up to two or three carbs at every meal and STAY AWAY FROM OVER-THE-COUNTER dietary supplements. You need to have a physician run blood work to make sure your vital organs are funcitoning properly.

i had my thyroid checked before...and the tests came back normal...

i've heard that for the first week or so that soemone moves onto a higher calorie diet...their metabolism skyrockets...but i swear, i've been eating almost 4,000 calories a day!

i don't get it!!!! my weights dropped to 87.5 last time i've checked and i lost about 3/4 in in my legs! i've been eating so much...how's this possible?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I do not understand how you can be significantly underweight and not raise a red flag to all those around you. Your body must be giving you signals that something is wrong.
At this point it's no longer a question of how many calories you are consuming. No doctor in his right mind would not know that something is wrong. Get a second opinion.

does anyone have any idea what it might be? i scheduled an appointment with my doctor...but he was full for the nex couple weeks...so i'm kind of wondering until then...

alright first of all im not saying that you starve yourself
but honestly, you fit the clinical definition of someone who is anorexic. i dont even know you and i worry about you. please seek help.

I just want to say, you sound like a couple of friends of mine. They used to have the same problem. Skinny like an anorexic and worried about it. They're sisters, actually. It's probably genetics in your case, too, though you frighten me a bit with your obsessiveness over it.

Don't worry so much. Just relax and do your thing. Eat when you're hungry, don't force feed yourself. Just be glad you don't have to worry about getting fat..and understand that you're beautiful just the way you're meant to be. Okay, so I have a bias...I love skinny girls. Everyone does. Haven't you seen the cover of Vogue recently?..

What's a problem is this borderline obsession you seem to have over it...everyone gets like that occasionally. You'd laugh if you've ever seen me stuffing my face like a raccoon in the 45 seconds I've left myself to eat breakfast..trying so hard to eat the 3500 calories a day everyone seems to recommend. It's rough, I tell ya. Which is funny, because I used to have trouble NOT stuffing my face. Haha. Anyways.. the key is to relax. If you can't stop yourself from worrying about it,you've got a problem. Tell someone about it.

If you really can't handle it, just go and find someone like me who'll eventually, through sheer stubbornness probably, convince you to see yourself as most other people do. Though, of course, you really shouldn't need someone else to do it for you it doesn't hurt when you're as distressed as you seem to be.

One more thing, I'd really like it if you'd share your concerns and your troubles with someone close to you in the real world. It'd make me feel a lot better, at least.

Sorry if I rambled a bit, here. Just concerned for the girl. I was just passing through...curious about what people had to say on the subject of love handles, actually. Signed up just cause I felt the need to say something. Hope everyone's having a lovely day.
