Hello, :hurray:

I quit smoking 9 months ago and now I look like I'm about to deliver a baby. It all went to my gut, I've never been this fat and I'm here to address my second addiction. FOOD! HELP! I'm really going to need it. I cant even tie my shoes.

No special diet, as I'm diabetic and I already know what I got to eat, its not rocket science and I'm pretty sure a whole bag of chips isn't on the diet. So here we go!

Congratulations on quitting smoking!!!!!! That is one vice I have not been able to tackle. Sounds like you have the motivation, now to get down the moderation part. (chips are another vice I can sympathize with) Best of luck!

First of all good job on quiting smoking, you had good reason to. I commend you for doing so. Weight loss is hard but can be done. You have the determination, but just have to gain control. We are here to help you. Just ask.

I've been smoking since i was 15y old (sub. one year for being prego) and i want to know how you were able to quit?????? im almost 23 an its one thing that i want to do so bad. for one ill be able to work out more without getting out of breath.

Hi Germaine.

I smoked for 20 odd years (from 16 yrs old to 36) and usually smoked a pack a day minimum...sometimes two. When my wife said she was pregnant, I thought it was a good time to quit and did it cold turkey. (I tried umpteen number of times to quit, but this was my last attempt at quitting.) Its been 10 yrs now... I weighed 180 before I quit and ballooned up to 235 in about a year.
I also stayed this weight most of the past 10 yrs. Thats why Im here now.

When I quit smoking I ate everything I could get my hands on to to satisfy that habit of moving my hand to my mouth. Also, cigarettes suppressed my appetite.....I smoked instead of snacking. Two cigs and a coffee and that was breakfast. So without cigarettes, I was always hungry.

Then eating became a habit and thats where I am now. Trying to break the eating habit and trying to learn to eat healthy.
If you need some support, I'll help anyway I can.

And congrats on quitting smoking! It was the hardest easiest thing I ever had to do....and I'm sure it was no different for you.
This weight loss thing should be a cakewalk compared to what I went thru with quitting smoking! lol.

Good luck and keep us posted!

For me, I had to promise myself. I promised that if I had one more cigarette, I would never try to quit again. It worked. I have never had a smoke since
It was the most difficult thing I ever did....and I don't think anybody else quitting will have an easier or harder time than I did.

But its all in your mindset. All you have to do is not smoke. Easy. And keep that thought every second of every minute of every hour of every day until that craving disappears. And for me, it took sooo long, that it was weeks before I realized that there were times when I didn't feel that craving and then it seemed to get easier. Thats when I knew I beat it.

Hang in there and do it! Like I said before, its the hardest easiest thing you will ever have to do. But you can do it!

Take care

I quit from a pack a day last September and have also dropped ~45lbs.

It can be done but you've got to want it and be prepared to say no to a lot of things. Sweet, greasy, processed and fizzy things. Learning portion control takes a bit of time to get wired into your brain. It was a challenge at first but after a few months the things that are bad for you become a lot less appealing.

I used Chantix (Champix) to quit tobacco and it was relatively easy. I thought the quit process had 2 stages. Firstly going from20/day to 2/day was only half the battle. Getting down from 2 to zero took just as much will power.

I started working out at about the same time so my cardio was uphill at the start and I'd struggle to keep going for 20 minutes but now I always do 1 hours no matter what for cardio.

Welcome. Congrats on the baby. And congrats on quit. I also quit about december of 08. I am also trying to lose the weight quiting puts on.
