Hi, all! :seeya:

First time poster here, really happy to have found this forum and I really admire everyone on here for their tremendous efforts. :hurray:

I've been struggling with excess weight most of my life (I'm 29 now). About 6 months ago, I decided to change my life, changed my diet and started walking.

Then, in the beginning of this year, I had a heath scare, which made me even more determined to carry on. So here I am now, went from 253 to 187 pounds and I feel a lot better. I've come to terms with the reasons why I ate so much before and can honestly say I don't miss my old eating habits.

That said, beside the health reasons, the reason I wanted to drop the weight was appearance. So below, I include three pics, the first is from 2010, when I was at my heaviest, the second two are current. In the 2nd one, I tried to replicate the »setting« of the 1st one, so I have the same facial hair length and even found the old T-shirt that I was wearing two years before.

I would really appreciate your honest opinion, do I look better now? It has been a concern for me regarding my self-confidence, especially with women.

Thanks in advance for every and any input.

You look a m a z i n g !! Super wow!!! What can I say!! I mean, you look soooo hot now!! Congratulations!!! Maybe you could share with us more about your story or even some photos of your body :D

Thanks a lot and again,

congratulations!!

I tried to lose weight with many different diets during the years, but none of them really worked. Not because of them, but because of me. As soon as I got off a diet, I started eating »the old way« again, as I had not really accepted the diet as a way of life, but some sort of temporary state, through which I have to go in order to get to the result I wanted.

This time though, I decided to start with the mind first, and then move on to the body. I thought about all the reasons that made me eat too much, and the ones that made me want to lose the weight. So before anything, I decided I have had enough and that this is not a sacrifice I am making, but a step toward a better me.

Once that was clear to me, the rest came relatively easily. I started to walk about six miles a day and changed my diet. I ditched the pizzas, pasta, white bread, and junk food like potato chips and different kinds of snacks. I also stopped drinking sweet juices and went to water and tea.

About 3 months in, I had to have a pretty serious operation on my back (severe hernia). Lying in the hospital also makes you think about the future a lot. I wouldn't wish it on anyone, but it opened my eyes.

Now, I eat a lot of vegetables, almost no meat (wasn't a big fan of it before either), whole wheat bread, cottage cheese, yoghurt, fruit (oranges mostly), but at our company cafeteria, I sometimes eat »normal« food too, just in small portions. I don't feel deprived of anything, it's just the new me.

Not sure if this really helped a lot, but can't really find a better way to explain it. If I gave some advice to anyone trying to lose weight, it would be to relax and not obsess about it, move more and eat better, honor your body more. Not much of a secret I guess. :)

I don't have any body pics at the moment, but will maybe add them later. I'm not ripped or anything, as I've gone through a lot of rehabilitation recently (after the surgery) and have just gotten back to normal. I'm planing to join a gym sometime this year, so I bulk up on muscle mass.

Thanks again, I obviously know I'm not Brad Pitt, but I'm hoping that with the slightly better looks, I do look more confident and will appear that way to other people as well. This has been a setback for me for a long time regarding meeting women, so I'll see where it takes me from here.

I'd hit it.

Good job! what was your start weight? and whats your goal. and tbh i think you looked good in the first pic! BUT that being said, its not what others think its about how you feel about yourself, mind you, i work better while recieving compliments on my achievments as well, its human! keep up the good work, and mad props for doing this!

Hi.

My start weight was 253, now I'm down to about 187 and I'm pretty much done as far as losing the weight goes. Now I plan to start going to the gym to shape my body. I think this will be much much harder. :)

Thanks for the kind words & honesty! :)

Something else if thought of and wanted to ask you guys, if anyone has experience with this…

Is it possible to get rid of a double chin, that remains after a weight loss? I don’t have a huge problem with it, but it is there, so I’m wondering whether this skin tightens up over time or is surgery the only option, if you want to get rid of it?

I had to look up your thread after your nice remarks in mine - and holy moley sir, you're a hot cookie! :) You've lost so much, and it really shows.. you're clearly naturally good looking since you look rather fine in the before picture as well, btu since losing weight you have a more defined jaw and face in general. Great job!

Well aren't you cute? ;) I agree with Sarah, you looked good before even, but now you look like you've got so much more confidence and really killing it! There are actually a lot of chin/neck exercises you can do that really do help tone up a double chin. Imagine making a bunch of cheesy fake smiles over and over again, but google it, I'm sure they can explain it far better than I can! Congrats on the loss, you look incredible!

Thanks to both for your kind words and generous comments.

Also, thanks for the tip on the exercises, found some right away, I guess I could've googled it before I even asked. :)

Hi again,

been doing some of the chin exercises, can't really see the result yet but it's still early days I guess. :)

Here's how it looks now:

Hi! so for a double chin, it doesnt really look like you have one but your allways your own worse critic, but i know this product that will tighten lose skin its called -it works body wraps- google it and you can buy them for your chin...you just put it on the problem area then it will tighten the skin on it.... check it out!
