60 pounds in 5 months, just getting started

Well, I was looking to enlist in the military after college graduation, but the only thing holding me back was my weight. The one thing I did have was time, so I started a simple diet plan and workout routine. No cokes, candy, fried foods, etc., basically counting calories.

Before:
Weight: 283 lbs.
Waist: 46 in.
Neck: 17.5 "
BMI: ~32%
Date in pictures: December 2007

During:
Weight: 257 lbs
Waist: 44"
Neck: 17"
BMI: ~27%
Date in pictures: Easter 2008

During:
Weight: 236lbs
Waist: 40"
Neck: 17"
BMI: ~24%
Date in pictures: May 2008

So yeah, that's the progress I've made so far. Graduation was this past Saturday, (May 17th), and I should be signing my contract and swearing in May 27th. My goal is to get down to about 190's, which I haven't been in quite a long time. Anyways, thanks for stopping by and show some love.

UPDATE (May 23rd):
I just want to say that when I started this topic, the title was a typo. I meant to put 50 lbs in 5 months, but after today, it's looking closer to 60. I went in to see my recruiter and get weighed, and now I'm at 228! I still have a few days left in this month, and all be damned if I don't hit that 60 lbs mark before it's up.

UPDATE (June 16):
Yep yep, I'm still heading down. I'm currently 219, which would be 63 lbs. since December. I have noticed that I have more energy throughout the day and can endure more strenuous activities without being winded. I look forward to the future and I'll make sure to update this regularly right up until I leave.

UPDATE (August 27):
So yeah, life is good. Right now, I've leveled off at around 205. This is partly because I'm not applying and pushing myself as much as I should, but mostly because beer is my friend. Anyways, here are some recent progress pics. For me, the biggest difference is in the face. Below are some recent ones from a concert and then a side-by-side comparison from the very beginning. Total weight loss since starting in December: 78ish pounds

Congratulations, you have come far and it shows.

How long has it taken you to lose your weight?

What branch of the military are you considering joining?

It's been about 6 months so far, and it doesn't help that I cheat every now and then with beer or eating out. And I'm considering doing Nuclear for the Navy.

Only you could make a dark man blush lol

Thanks, I only have about 15 lbs left, and I have until February to do that. Right now, I'm focusing more on stamina and endurance then just regular weight loss
