6 Pack Abs?

Okay, Im not doing very good on my goal, I started out at 162.2 and im down to 160 even. But Id rather loose the weight slowly, and the healthy way, than actually drop down to my goal, and loose muscle, and take the chance of gettin sick. Yesterday I benched 190 3 times , 175 4 times, and 145 5 times. is that good for a 17 year old male 175 cm tall, weighing 160? (The 190 lbs 3 times, Im pretty sure I can do more, but I didnt wanna catch myself struggling ). I really have been doing many ab workouts lately, Ive been just mainly working out to break a sweat. Ive not been eating any candy, and for my meals, I usually eat a salad, orange, and water. For a before work snack, Ill usually eat 2-3 peanut butter sandwiches, and nothing after work, unless its an orange, and some water. Even though Im not losing much weight, I can definatly tell my stomach is getting toned. By the end of March I want a "bitchin" six pack, and by Mid February I want to have my stomach tight.

If i were you Lokonious i wouldn't worry about weight i would just concentrate on getting my abbs ripped..... Because muscles do weigh more then fat and if you are making progress you should be gaining weight if anything.....

Well Rip, 10 pounds really isn't to much to be lost in a month i have lost 5 pounds in one wrestling practice. Which is about 2 hours long...

I have been wrestling for about 6 years and learned pretty well how to manage my weight...

Loko,

See how much fun it is to see progress?? Soon the newbie gains will come to an end and you'll have to pick up the intensity. IMHO and only in my opinion if you're going to be in the gym then be intense and focused for the short time you have. I know you've mentioned a few times you don't need to work on your legs....I promise you'll see a huge improvement in every aspect of your physique and training goals if you add squats and/or Deadlifts to your program.

Another note: Scales can be very misleading.

Great job with the 190lbs and keep workin bro!!

Yeah, I know, people keep telling me to work my legs out and stuff like that, but my work gives them a good enough workout. I usually work my quads/ calves out for about 4 hours a day, becuase of the type of work i do. I pull around anywhere from 100 lb skids, to 3000 lb totes at my work on a pallet jack, and pick up dishwashers, boxes weighing anywhere from 5-100 lbs. So my job is like a workout, but Ive decided that If i want better results Ive gotta step it up. So thats why I've decided to start working out with weights and stuff, so i can see some results. Yesterday, well Last nite, I did 7 1 handed pushups, each one id touch my chin on the floor. About a month ago, I couldnt even do 1. So Id say Im definatly improving on something. Thanks alot for the replys guys, It really helps me stay motivated, and just see how much faster I can improve on things.

I am just sticking to the standard 2 lbs. per week safe zone.

BTW - Did you keep that 5 lbs off that you lost whilst practicing? The only reason I ask, is because my weight can fluctuate ~5 either way in a day also. But, it always manages to swing back to my average. I doubt someone could lose 35lbs in a week. Anything is possible!

Staying in a 2lbs per week weight lose (or gain for that matter) area is a safe, easy, and efficient goal. However, this value is different for each person. Depending on your current weight, your metabolism, age, etc...

Overtime, you can't burn over 15,000 calories in two hours. That was either water weight lost or you made some sort of mistake.

Lemme ask you this..... Have you ever been to a highschool wrestling practice or a hell week for wrestling? I'm sure if you have been to one you would know how easy it is to lose more then 15,000 calories in two hours... But yes you are right it is just water weight unless you eat less then you normally do from then on then so start to lose major weight....

But my body functions way different then most peoples... Even my coach has told me that....

So yea everyone is different

With me I am about 5'10 and weigh about 168 on average but i always have to lose weight by the following Saturday... which would be 160.... but then after i weigh in i eat whatever....

But the difference with wresting is that we can eat what ever we want after we weigh in... We are just trying to make weigh for the tournament...

I'm definately sure you can't burn 7500 calories in an hour. You can burn about 400 an hour (IIRC) swimming, and swimming for that length of time is pretty damn hard. And, yes, I have been to wrestling practices and tournaments, and I have friends that wrestle on my high school team. You do, however, sweat a lot, which is why you're losing weight after practices.

I burned just over 1,000 calories yesterday in 100 minutes... And, my weight lose (4 lbs) was all water weight that was sweated out. I gained it back by this morning!

The only way to lose that much weight in a couple of hours of working out is water weight lose which (as Cult of Love and I mentioned above) will come back over a short amount of time.

well the only reason you would gain it back is if you ate more then usual... but if you ate less then you would start to lose weight because it has to get energy from the fat to put back that water weight.....

Question guys.. Ive so far remained the same weight now, I mean, its fluxuating around 2 lbs a day, but i cant seem to loose weight, although , Im loosing fat I know for sure, becuase now when I flex my stomach, I can actually see muscle comming in. Is it possible while at the same time Im eating right, and exercising often, I could be staying the same weight becuase of... muscle gain? I dunno if it works out like that or not, ive always thought ive heard you have to focus on one of those things at a time, and what it seems like though, is somehow im managing to do both. I think its mainly becuase of the work that i do at my job, which is basically walking with anywhere from 100 to 3000 lbs of resistance (pulling a palletjack) which I do from anywhere to 4, to 5 hours a nite. I think that helps my goal dramatically, just you couldnt tell if you were going just by the scale. Ive also been eating 6 meals a day, and it seems like i gotta use the bathroom the same, or if not just as much as I did 3 meals a day. 6 meals, is that supposed to speed up you're 'metaboloism'? I think ive heard that somewhere, but I could be wrong. Another thing.. when you loose weight, and the fat cells in you're body begin to shreink, is there anything about those cells that shreink that do anything to you.. cause ive noticed lately, ive been burping alot and stuff, i was just wondering if thats how you can tell if those cells are shreinking or what.. i know that probably sounds retarded, but i just started to realize now that im eating right, my stomach will ocassionally growl.. then ill usually have to burp or something, and i dont drink pop. Sorry for the wacked out theory, i just try to base anything, and everything that happens, on a reason.

Went Jogging last nite for a 1/2 hour straight 1/29/05 Very good workout, I didnt stop once. Broke a real good sweat as well. I think once a Week Im going to Jog. 4 Times a Week Lift Weights, and 5 Days a week work at my job.. for 5 hours a day.

Hey man i am going through the same thing u are and i really recomend alot of cardio. lots of joging. longer than 20 min cause that when your body start using fat for fuel. dont sprint that will burn sugar. i am doing about 1 hour a day and it is helping alot. and when lifting remember less weight more reps to tone and burn fat. just keep that heart rate up there and you will b fine. Good luck man!!

Thanks alot, good luck to you too. Lately I havent been able to get very much cardio in.. or even working out in general. I got a woman now :) and she kinda takes away any free time i have. I still eat right though, and Whenever i get the chance I workout, usually at least once a weekend I jog for about 1/2 hour. I know i have a 6 pack already, becuase when i tighten up the fat on my stomach, and flex, i can see alot of muscle behind it. so all i gotta do is loose the fat, and then i should be fine.

jogging at a moderate pace will burn calories and get your metabolism going for maybe some 30 minutes or something i dont know. but say put everything you got into a sprint, that will keep your metabolism higher for longer. try jogging, then sprint, then jog back at a moderate pace again. and when you got enough energy, do another sprint. thats what ive gotten from past research ive come across. anybdoy correct me if im wrong, just trying to help

Well.. its been a month. I cant say that im happy with the resuslts Ive gotton, thats mainly my fault though. I can see the top of my abs start to come in when i flex my stomach, my arms have gotton skinnier, but my muscles have gotton bigger. Im starting to lookin id say 'better'. I just wish i would've taken a picture at the start cause I know ive gotton bigger/smaller. I mean, my muscles have increased in size, but ive lost the some fat. I think i may have gained about 3-5 lbs of muscle in this last month. Im 165 now, and i can see my 6 pack start to show. My arms are more cut, Im workin on my triceps now, im trying to fill out my sleeves in my t-shirts. I want my arms to be big enough where they are completely filling out the sleves in my large t-shirts. Ive been starting to lay off of my diet. Ive really been increasing my meat/protein intake. I never find myself hungry anymore, becuase I eat like 5 times a day, oatmeal for breakfast, and maybe a salad once a day, and then mainly chicken breast, or something for the rest of the day. Im really wanting to get a way to get a picture on here, that way I can see what I look like now, and just you know, check in occasionally, and compare. Now im really not focusing on loosing weight, Im more into burning alot of calories, eating right, and working out hard. So whatever my weight decides to do thats fine, as long as im getting 'bigger'.

right now im happy with my legs, and calves

okay, so you don't want your legs to get any bigger. but do you like testosterone? when you do intense squats and deadlifts your body natrually produces more test.. test is always good for losin weight & building muscle!

yeah, true, but i get a good leg workout every day during the weekday, cause of the kind of work i do (well job) and i get paid for it, so now im just working on upper body. Ive got a 4 pack. i gotta work my pecs a little bit though, and good workouts for pecs, that really get them cut? and i need to work the fat off the very bottom off my stomach.
