5k Run

Last night I did a 5k run on my treadmill. Took me 43 minutes running at 4.5mph and walking a couple of times at 3.8mph. I thought that was good then I googled 5k average times and see people doing it in 26-28 minutes and see I have a long way to go.

Haha but doing it at all is a start!!! And you can work up to running the whole thing and running faster!! :)

Don't feel discouraged! Remember that everybody has to start somewhere. The important thing is that you stick with it.

When I first committed to getting in shape, I was so out of shape that I had to literally walk my bike home on my first ride! I was that sick to my stomach from exertion! But I came back the next day and the next. These days I can ride 50 miles no problem.

I picked up running last fall and I was NOT a runner at that time. I did one of these "couch to 5K" programs. Within a couple of months I went from being unable to run more than a few minutes at a time to running 5K. Now I run 5-10K several times per week, and I can run significantly faster than before.

It may seem difficult at first, but if you keep at it it really won't be long before you get really good at whatever it is you're trying to do.

Hi,

the very first time I did a 5k run it took me 56mins...showed me just how unfit I actually am. Now i can do it in about 43 mins and every single week I just reduce the time I do it in by running that wee bit faster or cutting down the amount of time for my recovery walk. Eventually I will run 5k continously without stopping however it takes time. It's such and achievement and it's amazing how much fitter you get everyweek with running so you'll do it in no time just stick with it :0)

I did it again and cut 3 minutes off my time 40 minutes for 5k. I did an interval run another day and found it much easier.
