59 female, injury what exercise...

Hi- I hope there are educated people/trainers on this site...
Several years (10) ago I had an accident which broke my neck and back in several places. I was in very good shape then. I have been waiting/hoping these past 10 years that surgery would fix me. It didn't.
Now, I would like to exercise safely, but with a fragile neck what exercises can I do... I am not allowed to lift-at all. No pulling with my arms, no pushing. No weights with my arms. What in the worls can I do? Thanks

Firstly, be very careful!
Secondly, you may need to see a specialist as doing the wrong sort of exercise could do more harm than good.

I, personally, think it would be somewhat of a bad idea to suggest a regime without more information on your capabilities. Again, the last thing you want is to cause more damage.

Instead of going straight for manual handling training, you should consult your doctor or physiologist and see what they suggest as they will have more information about your capabilities which is hard to tell from such a short introduction.

I'm sorry to be so negative, but it's often to err on the side of caution with serious injury!

Hi,

I am a nasm certified trainer with a specialized cert in corrective exercise. I agree with the first response. You need to find a qualified professional to assess you. You should start with more of a physical therapist. I am currently training someone with several fused cervical discs, she is 83 but I have extensive background, x-rays and I was able to give her a movement assessment.
