Okay, here goes nothing.

I have always struggled with my weight. My goal is to be able to not say that.

I joined this site a year ago under a different user name. I had some success, but then stopped using it and fell off the wagon.

I have also decided to be a little more private this time around. I will post headless pictures and leave out some details just for safety and privacy. I had someone I know recognize me on here. People can be cruel.

Here is my weight history:

I have always been curvy: I have an ass, hips and boobs - they are not going anywhere, nor do I want them to leave.

In high school I gained about 10lbs a year.
The best I ever felt was grade eleven. I was 155lbs.
That is my ultimate goal to get back to that.

Grade 12 I was 167lbs. I still felt and looked great, but not as good as the year before.

University it all went downhill.
By the end of 1st year I was 178lbs
2nd year I went up to 190lbs, but then back down to 182lbs
3rd year I stayed around 190lbs
By the end of 4th year I ballooned to 210lbs.

That was a year ago. I joined here and got down to 188lbs. Then I quickly went back up to 195lbs and kept that off for the majority of the year.

Since Christmas, I went back up to 200lbs. I've been eating healthier lately and watching portions, so I'm down 3lbs in the last 2 weeks.

I like seeing the scale go down. It's a simple thing, but it feels good.
Last year this site really helped me. So I would like to continue that and make this a more permanent thing.

My Problem Areas:
- I'm lazy!
- Asthma
- Knee/Hip injuries from yesteryears
- Carb enthusiast
- Salty Snacker
- Late Night Eater
- A love of Beer and Wine
- Portion (Un)controlled
- Low Self-Esteem

My Strengths:
- Feeling Motivated (lately)
- Competitive
- Physically Strong
- Lots of Free time to exercise
- Love to cook
- Good Knowledge of Foods
- Supportive Friends and Family

Goals:
Current Weight - 197lbs
Goal #1 - 187lbs - By the end of May
Goal #2 - 177lbs - By the end of June (my birthday)
Goal #3 - 160lbs - By the end of August
Goal #4 - 150lbs - By Christmas

These may be unrealistic, but I will learn more from my body as I go along and adjust accordingly.
Ultimately it means that I want to lose 47lbs in 8 months. That's an average of 6lbs a month - 1 1/2 lbs a week.
Everything that I have read shows me that that is managable. If I plateau or have slower progress, I won't give up...every body is different and that's okay.

But it's easy to say that, we'll see how I do.

I am in the middle of exams right now so my schedule is kind of crazy. But I am done school at the end of the month and my summer job doesn't start until July.
Therefore I have 2 full months dedicated to my health.

I got copies of the Beachbody Insanity workouts - it's a 60 day program so that works in well. Anyone done it before? Or know of people's success/failure with it?

Please please please feel free to comment, ask questions, give advice, etc. I thrive off of it!

Sincerely,
S.

Welcome! It sounds like you are very motivated.

How are you going to break your goals down to reach them? They sound very impressive. It's good to have a plan going into it and it sounds like you have previous experience and have learned a lot about yourself in the process. I look forward to seeing your progress!
Our problem areas seem to be similar! (I too have asthma, am lazy, have previous hip and knee injuries, lack of portion control!!....)
What is your plan for your 2 months off?
Good luck and keep us posted!

Hi Silvana

You seem pretty focused. That's good.

Have a look at my diary "i'm aiming for 59kg" and particularly the last part where i've put a link. The information in that last post or two will help you create balanced meals for the day or the week, and not go hungry while losing weight. Follow the link for more info. Its a government website about diet and nutrition. Its very good.

I also have some guidelines if you prefer a higher protein approach but i haven't put that info on my diary yet.

As you like to cook, you won't have any trouble incorporating all the right foods into your lifestyle so that its healthy and scrumptious.

Okay, let's do the math.
Goal #1
Today is April 18th and I want to lose 10lbs by May 31st.
That is 6 weeks. Therefore I have to lose 1.7 lbs a week.
I weighed myself Thursday at 197lbs, but I've lost a pound since then according to my scale, so I really only have to lose 9lbs - which is 1.5lbs a week to reach my first goal.

I feel that I will accomplish this earlier than expected. There is a lot of water weight in me, and I know that I can jumpstart this thing easily. But let's not get too ahead of myself.

Diet Plan: (I don't mean 'on a diet', I just mean what I plan on eating)
- water! water! water!
- no alcohol
- early breakfast everyday...no skipping!
- no breaded/fried foods
- no food after 7pm
- 5 small meals doesn't work with my schedule just yet, but 3 smaller meals and 2 on the go snacks will work
- up veg intake
- limited red meat
- egg whites only
- lots of yummy lean fish (baked)
- no potatoes
- brown rice as needed
- limit sauces: cooking and dipping
- no junk food
- small portion of bread in the morning only
- no heavy carbs after noon

Active:
As I said in my previous post, I'm starting Insanity soon. I may begin it earlier than May 1st though. Perhaps the 28th, that way I will finish it the day before my 23rd birthday.
I have a dog so I want to take him on long walks.
When the weather gets nicer I will break out my rollerblades.
I also have a recumbant bike in my basement for some extra cardio.

ijustwannabefit:
Thanks for commenting so quickly! I love seeing feedback - makes me feel like somebody cares. I also love our similarities. The asthma and injuries are hard to work with, but they're just challenges to overcome.
I live in a small town and don't have a car, so two months will be spent focussed on my health. It's kind of nice that I have all that time to work on me...most people don't have that luxury. Hopefully it's what I need to kickstart my way into a whole lifestyle change.

fortyfour:
Thanks for the tips! I haven't been able to go through it all yet, but I'll be sure to check it out now.
And yes, I intend on making it all very scrumptious. Healthy food doesn't have to mean bland food.
