50 lb Loss

hi for sure you can email me. I am always looking for weightloss/workout buddies!
i just saw it in my email (went to junkmail) and im going to read it and we can reply via hotmail or facebook or something. :)

Sounds good!! I just checked my email and haven't recieved anything back from you yet so private message me your name and I'll find you on facebook if you want :)

Looking good, lady.
I feel you might one day regret having deleted and or burned most of your "before" pictures.
One of my favorite forms of motivation is to sift through pictures of myself when I was really big and remind myself how I'm never, ever going to go back to that again.
Annnnd, they're always good for a quick laugh :)

I was amazed at how much difference there was in the pic where she said she had only lost 5 lbs.
That was a big change for such a small number.

Hi captainhealy. I did not mean to come across as rude or harsh. It is just IMO that not EVERYONE should be congratulated no matter what. Your method clearly wasn't the right choice as you gained most of the weight back. That's all I was saying. I wasn't being mean, just stating the facts. All I meant by "confusing" is that it almost appeared to be a success story until you read the very end. Most people on internet "scan" rather than read text. So I bet you some of the people who read this thought it was a complete success story. If you were like me and read it thoroughly, you will know what happened. I have to say, it's an interesting thread... not one you'll find all that often.

Now for something different... I have to ask you.. After all this, you still feel that what you did was the right way? How can that be? If you talk to any professional fitness trainer, he/she will tell you that 50% of your weight loss success is based on what you eat (your diet). Sure, you can exercise your heart out and the pounds will come off... but only up to a point if you haven't gotten your diet worked out. The pounds will back on otherwise. That won't happen if you get your diet worked out. No more foods with added sugars, no complex carbs, eats lots of veggies and fruits, very low on saturated fats, eat lots of whole grains, etc.

From reading her post, it doesn't sound like she reagained her weight while continuing in the way she lost it. She clearly said she started eating a bunch. It seems to me the way she lost her weight was legit. You can gain the weight back that you lose no matter which way you go about losing it. Some people stumble along the way and some completely fall off. She's getting back on track now. I fully read her post and I agree that she's showing that you can be successful, but you also have to work to keep yourself where you want to be.

This is supposed to be a supportive place, and your post was full of negativity. That's just my opinion.

Captain Healy, I want to congradulate you on your prior success and hope to see you around here throughout your new journey. You've done it once, I know you can do it again. I hope you start a diary, would love to give you support and learn what all you did the first time around and what you'll be doing this time. We can do this together!

Wow, a bit tense in here. lol

Captainhealy, I hope you maintained your weight loss goal. You look great in your after pics. Hopefully this time you can keep it off with an even balance of diet and exercise. 8]

Hey Cpt. Healy, hope your new journey going well, your results were great and I hope you can get to a place you feel is good for you again.

AlsoI love your sense of humour in your pics, especially the last!! Makes me laugh!! You're totally: "YEAH IM BADASS!! BRING IT!!"

um..great job but I have to disagree about losing weight is about working out. Actually it is about creating calories in vs calories out. Now, exercise does increase calories out but controlling your diet is actually more effective for weight loss.

I agree, weightloss is about having a calorie deficit and causing a calorie deficit through diet is really simply, eat less, eat healthier, you can add to that deficit by exercise, but you need to be aware that it takes massive amounts of exercise to achieve even a small bit of weightloss.

You can usually calculate how much effort you need to lose X calories online, I suggest before anyone gets into a routine of killing themselves with exercise they educate themselves about just how much you need to do, it's much easier to maintain weightloss through proper diet.
