Hi people I joined the forum today to look around for pointers etc... I am 450+ looking to get under 300 as a first step. I will be kicking it off with a 90 day challenge that I have entered. It is a real incentive for me because if I do 60+ I win $600, 50+$500 and I wont accept nothing less then that. The money is huge incentive but I want to do this for my kids, family and myself and continue on after the challenge. This doesn't kick off until June 9 so I wanted to start getting some chat in and try to build a decent plan of attack. Thanks for any input.

just lower your caloric intake bud! start off around 1900 calories a day, I'd use my fitness pal APP for phone.. lets you scan bar codes and track your meals. and start walking. I was in your shoes bud and lost 110lbs in 10 months, kept it off for 6 years then just now dropped 60lbs in 3 months bringing me closer to my true goal!

you can do it, cheat days are a must, and never give up. a bad weekend doesn't need to turn into a bad 2 weeks, just always move on and get back on track.

Wow man nice advice. Ive been through this before and no doubt the most important thing you pointed out was a bad weekend doesnt need to turn into 2 bad weeks. Also Congrads on your weight loss and hope you get to your goal.

Yup, like Jeremy said. Just count those calories and get a lot of walking in. I use the MFP app Like Jeremy, but I've also been using Arise to keep track of everything. I've made some "friends" on the app and we keep each other motivated and have little challenges to keep each other in check. Having support goes a long way when trying to lose weight.

1st week is in the books. I had a great week eating, had good exercise not great and my new weight today was 445 so loss of 15 so far on to week 2. I will definitely keep updated and be in for some support and food questions. Thanks

That's awesome! It's a long road, but totally worth it. Did you end up downloading one of the fitness apps? They work wonders on counting calories, keeping track of exercise, and keeping motivated. Good luck on the rest of the challenge!

Friday June 27th update I weighed in @ 436lbs. so after almost 3wks. I am down 24lbs. so far. I feel great and off to a good start for the 90-day challenge and $600. Eating very well and only drinking some beer once a week lol. So far so good but a long, long way to go.
