30 day Diabetic Cure -- Tree of Life

My friend recommended me to watch this video entitled, Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 days.

My mother has diabetes, and it goes high up into the branches of my family tree. I watched my Grandmother slowly be chopped up until the day she died in a hospital, because she had an infected finger. I have seen my mother act as if she was drunk, because she went into a Hypo state.

I sometimes forget the importance of my own health -- something in the distant background like a mountain in the distance. Nonetheless, it is a MOUNTAIN.

Anyone else worry or living with diabetes? What do you think of a Raw Food diet as a way to reverse diabetes?

I am into raw foods you can read my story via the link below. Raw foods changed my life, it is a very long story but raw food is amazing and it isn't raw meat or anything it is uncooked vegetable, nuts, seeds, etc... and can be very good and tasty. You don't have to eat 100% to reap the benefits, I am not 100%... glad you are checking it out.

I like to encourage people to add in a little and you'll start to see how filling it is because it has so many nutrients that haven't been cooked out of it.

Yes Victoria this is real.

It is funny that there are real people that have healed from this and there is a movie with some of these people in it sharing their success. I have learned that no matter how many people share their story of healing some people will never listen or believe it.

I find it funny that I am a real person that was really sick and the doctors could not fix the problem. Even weight loss surgery didn't fix my problem. Changing my diet was the only thing that worked. You can't convince everyone that our diet can change our lives but for those who are willing to make the change you can find healing.

I too was skeptical but after becoming ill I now know the truth about our food. I think we all have to do what works for us. For some we will stand by the people who are pumping our foods with harmful chemicals just to make money and no matter how many side affects medication have there will always be someone willing to take them even though they tend to do more harm then good. There is nothing anyone can do to help people see the truth. We just have to hope it will happen.

I was taking metformin which caused me to have diarrhea all night long. I was taking it for PCOS, I found out that women with PCOS most times have liver problems. After doing some research I found out that Metformin is really hard on the liver. Why would a doctor give someone this medication knowing it can make their liver issues worst? I wish people would start researching what they are putting in their bodies instead of saying things aren't true while your medication and diet is possibly making your situation worst.

I'd like to add this note for clarification. These people are not cured, but by changing your diet you can control this without medication. There is a whole forum dedicated to people who have found success, I don't mind sharing it with anyone that is interested. There are real people you can talk to, this is not a hoax. Just PM me for the forum.

I think food can be medicine. However, I don't always practice this idea. I think we're supposed to use food as fuel, and it can also heal. We've gotten into this fast-paced life style, locked into pre-packaged food, and we're paying the consequences.

When I posted this thread, I was aiming to get people to watch this documentary and discuss the power of food. I think I've mis-named the title -- there isn't a "cure." However, there are some people who were able to reverse their diabetes. They were able to get off the insulin, and stop playing this harmful bio-chemical game. I found that to be fascinating!

Eating raw food means, no meat, no cooking vegetables over a certain temperature, nothing processed. (As I understand it.) I think most people wouldn't have the discipline to adopt such a regimented diet. Just like people who are quitting smoking, the addiction to processed foods is just as strong.

On a side note, I see that there have been over a 100 views on this thread, but I wonder how many people have actually taken the time to watch the film.

You had weight loss surgery but DIDN'T change your diet?

:walks away in absolute horror:

Although i have always feared being a diabetic, i haven't ever taken the pain to go through information pertaining to it. Will be great if somebody posts a detailed thread on all aspects of diabetes, here on this forum!

I don't think cooking meat is 'processing' it as such. Personally, I would never live 'meat free' (because it's not healthy, for starters), and I wouldn't eat raw meat either.

Besides....only live of raw veggies and fruit, and you might not have the diabetes problems (even though a lot of the fruit sugars are totally lethal when it comes to diabetes, so that's nonsense as well), but you'll sh*t your guts out, and increase the risk of all kinds of problems with your intestines.

Diabetes is NOT reversible. With a good diet you can limit the amount if insuline needed, and increase your overall wellbeing, but that's about it. But living exclusively of raw food is certainly not necessary for that.

That comment alone totally stopped me from taking anything else you said seriously. You had the surgery and didn't change your diet? Yeah........right. Enough said. :leaving:

I HAD to comment.

Raw diets might help diabetics or pre-diabetics. I have PCOS myself. I'm all about trying to eat as healthily as possible.

Raw diets can help because the basic premise is RAW. That means food that isn't cooked about 116 degress. Carbohydrates french fries, bread (not steamed), chocolate bars, sugar, etc. -- are NOT part of the diet. Why? Because those need to be cooked at higher temperatures.

So, yes, the diet consists mostly of fruits and vegetables and nuts, and very low amounts of animal protein is GREAT for diabetics, and limited carbs. You might as well be doing a low glycemic diet and get the same effects.

For PCOS, pre-diabetics, or diabetics, simple carbohydrates are just killers. Macrobiotics (and others) also have a theory that a high-protein diet destroys the pancreas. That's totally debatable and I'm not necessarily here to debate it.

But the that's why the Raw food diet works. This link has more information if you don't want to watch the video:

Fundamentally, it takes a lot of work and effort to go on a Raw food diet that is healthy for you. If you're willing to have that kind of discipline, you'll be successful with any diet you pick. It could be Raw foods, macrobiotics, Jenny Craig or whatever.

Now, just ut of curiousity, what benefit exactly does a raw diet have for people suffering from PCOS?

If your PCOS also includes insulin resistance, then a raw diet can help because it lowers the simple carbohydrates that you're eating -- like pasta, white rice, simple sugars, etc.

Raw diet will probably also help you lose weight -- and your PCOS symptoms can be improved if you do.

But, the thing is, you can do the same with a low glycemic diet, too. The "raw" aspect of it isn't the cure-all. Just an option.

Well, it does, but I was told to avoid fruit sugars as well, so that would limit the amount of what I could eat even more. And since I started losing weight, my PCOS symptoms have gone through the roof, exactly the opposite of what I was told.

Essentially - nah. I'm not a rabbit or a cow, so I think I'll stick with what I eat right now, and leave the raw diet to those who's stomachs are made for it.

Personally, I would never live 'meat free' (because it's not healthy, for starters)

What you choose to eat isn't my concern or business, but this statement is false. A meat-free diet can be very healthy.

There are proteins that your body needs which are only found in meat. You can eat all of the vegetables, fruits and grains that you want, but you will never get those complete proteins that your body needs unless you eat meat.

My aunt is 70 years old and she has a PhD in Medicine. She has worked as a nurse since she was 19 years old and achieved her doctorate when she was 25. She chose to stay working as a nurse, instead of a doctor, because she wanted to prevent mistakes from being made before patients even saw a doctor. With that being said...

My aunt has told me many stories of her professional life, all of which are from various aspsects of medicine and health. One of the things that she talks about the most is her patients and their diets. She has always talked to me about how unhealthy vegan diets can be, due to the lack of proper nutrition. People who eat vegan diets often have intake high levels of carbohydrates and sugars, which can lead to an extremely unhealthy body.

Also, the proteins found in vegetables lack essential amino acids in which the body needs in order to function properly and work in a healthy manner. Complete proteins can only be found in meat and other animal products (such as eggs, milk and cheese).

FYI - I say "vegans" and not "vegetarians" because all other forms of vegetarianism include some sort of animal or animal product in their diet. Vegans don't ingest anything that comes from an animal.

Only if you add supplements / substitutes to your diet.

Yup.

Being a Type II (hence the T2 in my username) diabetic, I'd take caution of the tone 'cure' in any claim of said disease.

From my own personal experience, there are a set of disciplined parameters one can follow to 'fine tune' ones' body. This type of diet will assist one to bring their diabetes under control nicely, I make no bones about the advocation the author is suggesting (tho I didn't watch this video because my security wouldn't allow me in there, which is fine by me, I get the gist of this anyway).

My weight loss was spurned on by largely this format. It stood to reason I benefited from adding raw vegetables and such thus eliminating bunches of carbs, fat and sadly, protein. I basically choked off my sugar supply that fueled my diabetes. A year and a half later, I went on a stretch without my Glucophage for almost 30 days and still maintained a 80 to 95 blood sugar testing range. My A1c level was drastically reduced in half. An unheard of 4.9! Pre-weight loss and food intake changes, I hovered in the high 9's - low 10's for 5 years.

Point is, if I stopped exercising and/or ate outside of my strict menu, the numbers jumped back up. Without getting any longer-winded about all this, it's simply if you follow this (or another similar plan) to the letter, you can improve your diabetes to the point where you may not need meds, and as long as you keep due diligence, the streak can last as long as you dedicate yourself.

I have since found out that this is extremely difficult to maintain long-term. Life happens. There's gonna be days where you're gonna want a few beers or hook into a couple slices of pizza, etc etc etc... At some point you're going to fight this monotonous taste bud food group and want some 'real' food. Trust me, I know.

Your 'cure' is your perfection and diligence but diabetes just doesn't 'go away' via a cure - except for gestational diabetes. Don't get me wrong, my quality of life improved a 100-fold by burning off the diabetic sluggishness and infliction this disease taunted me with for half a decade. The reality is I haven't hammered it out like I was two years ago and feeling the affects of my diabetes creep back in. It really is a dragon chasing its tail.
