3 Months Progress!

Hi!

I'm new here, but I saw a lot of other people posting their 3 month progress pictures and I decided I'd do the same.

About 6 months ago I was really, really uncomfortable with my body. I refused to go swimming or take my shirt off even around my family members. I decided that it was time for me to make a conscious effort to change my body and become a new me, I changed my hair, my clothes and I've become, visually anyway, a whole new person. I'm a lot happier now, but I'm not willing to call this a before and after- because it's not after- hopefully there won't be an after! I hope I can continue this for a long time.

Just to avoid any confusion, I began to change my diet about 6 months ago, eliminating soda made with sugar, chips, pizza... all the foods I enjoy, incidentally, and making much healthier choices.

So the pictures following are my 6 month full transition, 3 month gym transition. Trust me, you guys are some of the few to see my before picture and I'm even a little uncomfortable showing people even though I don't look like that anymore!

Here goes nothing!

How I dressed and wore my hair before...

My *shudder* body before.

How I dress and wear my hair now.

Annnddd.....

My body now! :)

And my happiness level?

=D

I hope that wasn't too longwinded, thanks for looking!

:)

How much pounds did you lose total. Before after weight, height?

What was your weight training like?

What are your future goals? To maintain that, bulk up now what.

Either way you did an amazing job.

Thank you so much!

I started out at 160lbs and I now weigh 125 :) [35 lb loss] and I'm 5'9

My weight training has mostly been doing sets of 15 reps on pretty much everything, alternating muscles every day.

My future goals are to obtain a far more visible six pack and get my arms bulked up more. I definitely want to bulk up but I don't want to look over-done, you know?

Thanks again, though!

There is no question that you lost fat, but it looks like a considerable amount of that 35# was muscle.

I'm going to disagree only because it seems like he didn't really have much muslce at the time. Am I correct. To the original poster...did you ever workout before you started this cutting session.

And yea I know what you mean you deffinitly have a good body to game some nice lean muscle. If you eat correctly to you can keep much of your abs while bulking. Even if you gain just a little bit it will be easy for you to burn off because it will be know where near 35 pounds lol

I don't really know where you're getting that from. I clearly had hardly any muscle in my original photo and I didn't work out whatsoever. I've definitely increased muscle considering I can lift nearly twice as much than I could when I started at the gym.

Also, explain how it's possible for me to lose 35 lbs of muscle over 6 months by eating healthier and working out more? That doesn't make any sense...

Thanks for commenting though.

Here's the math:

Ending weight: 125# with 7% body fat (estimated) = 116# nonfat weight. Even with 5% body fat, which I think is too low, your ending nonfat weight is 119#.

Starting weight: 160# with 20% body fat (estimated) = 128# nonfat weight. Unless your starting body fat was over 25%, which it wasn't, your starting nonfat weight was over 119#.

So, you lost nonfat weight. That must be in the form of muscle. I'm guessing you lost 10 - 12# of muscle.

The reason you are able to lift more is from newby gains. A weak muscle gains a lot of strength early on without gaining mass.

iSean, you did a good job on losing weight man. You don't have to keep cutting. Switch to 10-12 reps. And start adding a little muscle, once you are satisfied you can cut again and start seeing some abs.

Going a little heavier on the weights with few reps will net you more muscle mass. The only way to have a six pack, is the build the muscles in your stomach...work your way up to squats and deadlifts, they provide some awesome isometric contractions for your abs which will make them pop like no other exercise. Trust me buddy, when you add muscle, it will not look like you over did it. It will look awesome.

If you would be so kind to post your workouts and give us an idea of how you eat, we could help you even further.

Great work, a young guy working it out for himself. I feel so sorry for young men who find a hot babe and don't want to get their shirt off! These are the best years of your life, (Green Day ?) now hits some weights hard and get amongst the women with confidence!

Haha, thanks guys!

If you want to see what I'm doing with my work outs and give me advice, it's best to do that on my blog.
