3 months of "sticking with it"

Title says it all!

3 months of not being a quitter!

No target weight, no pair of old jeans that I want to be able to fit into. My lone goal is to spend 3 months improving my lifestyle and being truthful to myself (in regards to diet, effort, etc). Also in regards to forgiving myself for any spectacular diet fails that might happen (lol, "might" :rotflmao:) and not using them as an excuse for chucking the whole thing and getting lazy again.

Just weighed in this morning and stand at a lordly 117.7kgs (259.9lbs).

Ate a tuna sandwich for breakfast and am about to head into the gym for an easy workout session to kick things off. I've also just come off a case of gout which kept me off my feet for about four weeks (other than work). Couldn't have been a more timely reminder to get healthy, really.

From here on in I'll be making it a goal to weigh in and post my weight each day. Look forward to sharing my progress! :cheers2:

Also, because of the gout, red meat and beer have to be drastically reduced. Pretty upset about that one.

Wish me luck!

Alright, so after some light work at the gym and a seven hour shift at work... and a day without red meat or beer... I weighed in this morning.

114.4kgs (252.2lbs)

No doubt there was just a bunch of goop and fluid in my system that I've flushed out over the 24 hours. Straight back to work early today, so won't be doing any exercise (other than the inevitable 8 hours of brisk walking that my job requires).

Anyway, day 1 in the barrel, onward upward.

Good luck with the project.

My husband has been getting gout for many years - and it is really important to make sure that you drink plenty of water.

The main formula for water consumption that we follow here results in you needing 126 ounces of water a day (1 oz per 2 pounds we weigh) which is a fair bit. I am the first to admit that hitting such targets becomes onerous over the long term...

The most important thing is that you keep your urine clear - so do keep an eye on what that looks like. If it gets darker - drink more water and if it gets really dark - alert your doctor as it might be an early warning of kidney issues linked to the gout.

Thanks for the input guys! Had a wee bit if a treat day yesterday, and yes, I drank a LOT of water yesterday! The foot is still a little tender, but altogether much better than it was a couple of weeks ago. This morning weighed in at 114.2kgs (251.8kgs). Minor loss for two days, but still a loss. And definitely not a gain, so I'm happy about that.

Ugh. So, I've officially made it to day 5 without beer or red meat, but last night I got drunk on cider (potato potahto, right?) and snacked on some rather unhealthy chicken. I was kinda disappointed today and even thought about trying to get a "good-behaviour day" in the books before posting and weighing in again... but then I decided that that wouldn't have been very honest. And as previously stated, honesty is the whole aim of my personal challenge.

So, I weighed in at 114.4kgs (252.2lbs) this morning, which is a fraction heavier than my previous weigh in. Oh well. Sticking with it. Swings and roundabouts, I guess!

After a pretty stellar good behaviour day, I weighed in at 113.7 this morning (250.7lbs)... And followed it up by piling in on carbohydrates all day! :willy_nilly: Still, not so much as a drop of any alcoholic beverage today, and haven't had any red meat or beer for a week now! Went to the doctor again about the gout, as the pain has subsided, but the swelling has not. I need to go back in a week and get the results of my blood test to determine if I need to do a course of medication. I really, really hope I can start exercising, at the latest, a month into this three month stint.
