Well, about five months ago a few of my friends left for basic training. We were all about average build and weight, but I decided I didn't want to be the most out-of-shape among us when they came back on leave. I started watching what I ate (eating less; eating right), and exercised for at least an hour 5 days a week. Anyways, they're coming back in a week or so, and here's my progress:

Before:

After:

I'm 5'10, down to 140 from 165. I'm pretty much on cruise control right now, keeping right at this weight. First post on here, and I figured I'd show you all my progress. What do you think?

Great progress. The abs are starting to become exposed. You got a two-pack now (can't count those top two, right under the pecs, because they are the rib cages, not muscles). With a little more work, you'll have a six-pack. The thing is that I doubt any of them returning from training will have anything near a six-pack - basic and ait training life just doesn't allow you to have the type of menu control you need in order to achieve that low level of body fat.

I am nearly 5'10", and I am at 165 lbs now. I look more or less like your top photo. I want to get a six pack, but I don't want to lose any more weight. I seriously could not imagine myself weighing 140 lbs, but you don't look too skinny IMO so let's see what I weight when the six-pack is exposed.

What waist size do you wear in jeans now? What did you wear when you were 165? I am currently wearing 32" waist jeans, and they are literally falling off my ass. I will break down and buy a new pair after christmas.

This is where I want to go (BMI 19-21, 132-146). But I am 42. I just do 3-4hrs/wk of cardio, hopefully I'll see my abs too.

Thanks! In the top picture, I was at about a 33" waist, now I'm right around 30-31". Alot of my mass used to be primarily fat. I'm pretty sure one of my friends is going to actually look much less lean than when he went in. They run you ragged, but they stuff you at every meal too. I always used to think 140 pounds sounded way too light, but it seems much more natural now that I'm here. Since i've supplemented my diet with plenty of protein and exercise, I'm physically stronger than I was before too, with much better cardio.

Great Job! Your friends are going to have a wow look going on...you look hot!!

Thanks :) I think you're right. The ones that all left for basic are the only friends I used to work out with, so I'm sure they're expecting me to have gained weight if anything, lol.

Great discipline! Well done! :)

Thanks, It took alot of discipline when it came to eating, and more than a little sweat, lol. I've been trying to maintain, but ended up losing another two pounds in the last two weeks. I'm having a hard time getting the 2,500 calories a day I need to maintain 140. Funny, that never used to be a problem for me, haha.

AMAZING....but I agree you seemed fine in the b4 picture. You may be surprised by what you find when your friends come back and it may not even matter to them what you've done. But you seem to find value and pride in your success right now regardless.

Well, it was more for me than for anyone else. I never thought I was in bad shape, or didn't look well enough, I just wanted to be more lean and toned. I just figured I'd use my friends going through basic training as a relative comparison :D
