25 pounds gone in A MONTH AND A HALF! Getting closer! Help me keep myself motivated!

I need help to keep myself motivated. Any tips? Help?

I am 1.72cm/5ft7.5. I have lost 11.5kg/25lbs (mid Feb 2009). Now about 64kg/141lbs. No way near enough. Not toned enough.

I am not going to starve myself. I believe in eating and working out.

I told myself that in 2009 I would not let myself get any bigger. Instead my goal is to take up athletics again and get back to my old self.

Basically what happened to me was that during my high school years I was super active (competed in many sports) and was on a strict diet to build lean muscles. At the age of 14 I was 1.68/5ft6.2 and 47kg/103lbs, then as a grew natrually/hit puberty I gained height and bone mass. By 16 I was 1.72cm/5ft7.5 and 55kg/121lbs. I remained the same until I graduated. But during my fresher year in college, I began drinking a lot and pretty much did no sport ... and on top of all that my diet went out the window... I also broke up with my long term boyfriend from high school. I was pretty much in a massive mess.

Haha, they say fresher 15, well I'm pretty sure I bet that one. By the end of my fresher year I was 1.72cm/5ft7.5 and 75kg/166lbs. Pretty darn chunky for my liking. I hated my body, I was a lump of lard, found that even a simple jog was a massive stress on my body. Haha so I pretty much packed on like 20kg/45lbs Thus I decided to amp it up and get back to my ownself. More importantly to get my lean muscles back.

I made my 2009 resolution to get down to 47kg/103lbs. I have been restricting my diet to around 1000-1200 calories and doing a load of excerise each day (30min yoga, 3hours biking, 1hour jog/power walk) to try and reclaim who I was. I started on the 2nd of Jan 2009. They say that once you put your mind to it you can achieve anything. That is so bloody true, but you need to make sure that you really do put in that 110%.

But hands down the best way to burn and lose weight is to hit a party. When you dance 4 hours straight in heals pretty sure you will loose a pound or two by the next morning. I find that recording what you eat also helps, makes you realise how much of a fat shit you are after you eat stuff. Haha and prehaps the best way to keep your weight down is to stop buying fat shit food. Man, if you buy it, you're gunna eat it. Spend the money on a top/dress/pants that is a size too small for you so that it pressures you to be thinner.

Haha if only losing weight is just as easy as gaining.

I just need some tips on food, and work outs to help me get that body that I want. Also I am interested in an EMAIL weight buddy who has similar goals to mine so we can be a support system!

You are 1.72 meter and you want to weight 47 kg? Isn't that a little bit too thin?
I am 1.53 meter and I want to weight 45 kg..... o.o

Congratz on your 25 lbs weight loss. Well done! 60 kg should be already very thin? I dunno. I am just 4.98 feet.

You would think so, but I have tiny bones (mixed race - asian bone structure) 47kg would be a mostly lean muscle body for me... haha

I need motivation, too! I'm just impatient with results, I guess, because I ate right and worked out for a month and ended up gaining a pound. However, you've already lost 25 lbs- congratulations! You should really take pictures of yourself every few months to compare how much you're going. Did you start a diary on this website yet? I did, and it's pretty motivational. There's some really nice people out here.

Congratulations on your successes, and good luck with your future goals!

Are you sure you have the weight in lbs and height in feet/inches correct? Just wondering because if you are almost 5'8" and 140 and you think you are fat then I am starting to get worried. Then when you say you want to be 103 I really start to worry. I "could" be wrong but at 103 I think there is a really good chance you would look anorexic. What do your friends say? What about guys?

As for the athletic part I can relate to that because I was also a high school athlete that let myself go. I gained the freshman 55! Yep, 55 lbs of pure unhealthy pudgy fat! I have never been the same since. I tried several times to get back to my old high school self but I went about it the wrong damn way. When you get older and finish growing your body is different for one. But more importantly, if you get sedentary and gain a lot of unhealthy fat you just can't go and be your old high school athletic self right away no matter how much your brain says so.

I'm not saying you can't ever get there again performance wise but you definitely shouldn't be trying to get there weight wise. Eighteen year old girls are just not done developing yet no matter what your grade school PE teacher told you. Just look at the difference between the Freshman on college campus and the Seniors or post graduates. Having said that, it is very possible for you to look better, more fit, sexy, etc. at 130 lbs than you ever did at 103. I think most men would agree that a fit HEALTHY woman looks better than any anorexic hollywood star.

This latest attempt of mine I finally succeeded. In the past 9 months I have lost 52 lbs of fat and dropped my body fat to the healthy range for men my age (31). I am 199 lbs. When I graduated from high school I was 160 lbs. So, should I lose another 40 lbs? :ack2: No thanks. I need to lose another 10 or 12 lbs at most. I also quit trying to go all out or nothing when first starting out. Sure, now I am finally up to training for a triathlon but it took me months and months of progression to get to that point. I also reinvented myself and tried new things. I was only a swimmer in high school but now I am jogging, biking and trying new things like yoga, pilates and kick boxing. Yes, I am swimming again too...finally.

Just think about the reason why you really want to get to 103. That is all I am asking. Think about it and reply in a day or so.

Thanks Cheiri

Derrick - yeh, well a girl can dream maybe 55kg/121lbs? I just don't want to be considered fat.

I mean, my friends and I are all very social and they are all slim. I mean i know that at 55kg/121lbs I will be normal. I dunno, I'm not too keen on the anorexic look, I guess i can cope with may be 52kg/115 pounds? I think that is more fair.

I think I am just wanting my high school body back too much, i guess all women have to accept it when we become women. Plus I guess what you state proves that the idea body for women is perceived differently by men/women.

Well I am glad you are at least open to the idea. I think keeping personal progress photos for yourself would do wonders for you in the long run. Use a tripod or have a close friend take photos of you in a bikini or short shorts and a sports bra or something so you can see a lot of your body and the changes will be more visible. Also make sure to frame the photo just above your head and just below your feet so you are not too far away. Take about 5 to 10 photos of each pose (front, side and back) and keep the ones that turned out the best.

Some areas may not look like they are changing much but others will be very noticeable. If you do get to 130 or even 120 and you just don't think you are looking any different then all you have to do is put the before and after photos side by side and you will see just how good you look.

If you really try hard to tone up with resistance training I think you will have more success getting the look you want than if you just try to achieve a really low weight. Just make sure you are eating healthy. Please don't starve yourself or you will lose muscle.

Spot on. I'll give my quick story on that point as well.

When I got to college I waited tables in a pretty nice restaurant. As such I had to wear a full tux. Of all the clothing that has come and gone that bit of stuff actually has been preserved.

So when I recently went though my old stuff and found my original tux pants I thought what the hell. They were a 32 and while I'd not been a 32 in many years I figured what the hell and tried to put them on.

The thing that I noticed right away was not that the waist was too small for me, even thou I'm still pretty shocked at how narrow the waist looks on what I am wearing these days, but rather the cut of the slacks around my hips. They were tight to the point that I knew there was no way my bones were the same shape as they were back then. Even if the waist was loose on me the idea that I could have waited tables in those things fitting like that would have been laughable.

you should definitly not aim for 103. I'm 5"3.5 and am normally around 135 but gained over this year and weighing in at around 145 now. it's extremely depressing and i'm hating the way i look these days. so now i'm dieting and hoping to go down to somewhere between 106-110. if you are 4 inches taller than me - you've gotta aim for more than me!

:seeya:Hi there!
Congratulations on your WL so far. I hope you will post some pics for us to see - they are so inspiring.

You've received some very honest (and I think wise) input from males on this forum. As a 30-something woman, I cannot imagine why anyone would ever want the body they had at 14??? A woman's body is SO much more interesting than a pubescent/prepubescent girl's body. I truly believe that 99% of men much prefer a womanly, curvy body with some real meat on it than a bony, anorexic one.

I wonder if it would be helpful to you to look outside of your social circle for a healthier ideal. You are considerably taller than me (you lucky duck!), and I am considerably heavier than you - yet I feel that I look great! Check out my pics on this forum. I have had 2 kids and am proud of my curves.

I wish you success on your journey:auto: I hope you can reach a healthy, sustainable weight where you feel athletic and love yourself.:Angel_anim:

Cheers
