230 pounds to lose!

Yup, I'm 420 pounds now, and according to the charts I've seen at the doctors office, I've gotta lose 230 pounds to not be considered obese. In a couple weeks I'll be 33 years old, I'm a father of 2, twin boys, they are 2 and a half years old.

I've made many attempts to loose weight over the years, but all i keep doing is gaining. I did loose some weight in College thu, but since then its been all up. Now thu, this weight has really become a problem, my belly is always in the way, there are many chairs I can't fit in to. I'm 6'3" so I've carried my weight well over the years, but these last 50 pounds have really pushed it over the edge. I get tired playing with my kids, I want to be able to do lots of stuff with them, not be an embaresment to them as they grow up.

So, where I'm at now as far as my plan goes. My doctor has referred me to a Medically supervised weight loss clinic. I've had all kinds of medical tests and despite being morbidly obese, my body functions well, so I have no barriers as far as exercise goes. The team at the clinic has set me up with a custom meal plan, that will continue to change as I loose weight. I've gotten a membership at a health club, and I swim laps every day before work. Some days I will go in the evenings as well, bring my wife and let the kids play in the child minding area. I also like to get hikes in, and do some walking with the family. The last piece of my plan, is joining this forum for support and information.

All the conditions seem to be right, including my mindset, and this weight issue has never been so serious, I feel I will be successful.

Well, that’s me guys.

Welcome to the forum! You might find the "stickied" threads on the forum helpful and you also might consider starting a diary in the diary section. They are great for accountability and getting motivation from other members. Good luck to you! :)

You have came to the right place to be successful! I know you can be successful if you find something that motivates you. Really give it some deep thought about what you can use for motivation.

This was something that I had to do for me to be successful. Always believe in yourself!

Best of luck to you fella I wish you all the best, for what it's worth the hardest thing for me was actually starting the diet I'd keep saying I'll start tomorrow then find an excuse to say the next day I'll start tomorrow this time I've actually started and by and large stuck to it although some days not been easy. Anyway hope everything works out for you and you get to where you want to be !!!!

It can be done dude. If you have the determination and the support I'm sure you can do it.

If you want proof it can be done, I suggest checking this out, especially the youtube vid.

It can be done and YOU can do it :)

It sounds like you've got a great support network around you, and that will help a lot when things get tough.

You've got all of the tools to succeed, I'm sure you'll do well if you've got the determination to change.

Welcome to the forum and good luck on your journey. From a recently started person with a lot of weight to lose, I look forward to watching your success!

5'3" woman here, 290.6 starting weight, 37 years old, so we've got similar BMIs.

I've got a first goal of 100 pounds in a year, first month nearly down, 9 pounds down, so on a good pace. I've made myself some (ok cheesey) little "badges" to give myself something to earn. Doesn't mean much to anyone but me, but I find myself stupidly motivated to get that first "belt"! 1 pound to go.

Good luck!

eta: Oh, I've got 2 boys aged 1 year and 2 years, not quite twins but close as I could manage. :D

Thanks so much for the welcome and encouragement everyone. I really think this is it this time. I feel that if I don't do it this time I never will, everything is in place, I have the determination. I also really feel that if i don't do it now, death is not far off for me.

I will start a Weight Loss Diary.

Again, thank you, and good luck to everyone out there who is trying as well.

P.S. FMK, I like your belt system :) Good Luck
