21 years old boy trying to get fit

Hey all,

I'm new to this website.

My name is David, and I'm finally trying to get fit. I have always been a chubby nerd, but recently I've decided to change it. I'm trying to work out for about an hour every day, and trying to run for 30-40 minutes 5-6 times a week. I still suck at it. The best I can run is 3.5 minutes at 9km/h, and then 1.5 walking at 5km/h.

I'm also trying to avoid eating fat things or drinking soda, but sometimes, when I go out with some friends of mine, I sin.

I'm 1.82m tall, my weight is 82.6kg, and my body fat is 22.6%. How long do you guys think it will take me to get fit? Any good tips?

When you are working out try to make sure the resistance (weight) is challenging to lift but not to heavy that you lose your form. Form is really important when you workout. It prevents you from injuring yourself.

Keeping good form means that you are focusing 100% of your energy towards working out the muscle. That will lead to strength and growth. Bad form wastes energy, time, and does not hit the muscle in a way that promotes maximum growth.

Do a full body workout plan with great form and you should see results in as little as 4-8 weeks. As for the running, keep it up, you may suck right now but the more you do it the better you will get. I suggest running outdoors and focus on enjoying the run instead of keeping track on a treadmill.

I think that first start avoiding oily and fattening things and start exercising. This is what I think can be the best option.

What everyone else has said but also please remember to not work your body too hard, I work out every other day, Im surprised you have the energy but you sound like you know what you are doing, just be careful, you don't have to always be on guard, you can have a chocolate bar here and there...
Eating healthy is great for losing weight, exercise also a plus, and weights, great for toning, all very simple and easy to do.
I love jogging, always make sure you stretch your legs before running, i have had bad knees for not doing so, and never give up, it takes time to slowly make it up to your 40 minute mark, or 4 miles etc... Think positive and you well succeed :D

Good luck!
