2012 Bride to be!!! AAARRRRGGGHHH!!!

Hi,

I apologise in advance for the essay!

Well, after 2 years of deciding 'I need to lose weight'. I'm finally getting round to it! I've yo-yo'd the past few years and I have finally one big motivation to get me back on track! I am getting married in less than a year now! Wish I'd of knuckled down a couple of years ago, but fell prey to the curse of being happy in my relationship and gaining weight. I have started again 3 weeks ago, purchased a cross trainer and I'm calorie counting.

I've tried SW and had somewhat moderate success losing a stone, but it crept back on over christmas, due to being ill, off work and working very hard to mould my body groove into the sofa!

I am now simply calorie counting and try and stick between 1300-1600 per day, averaging 1400 mostly I'd say and burning 2000 cals a week exercising when I can. I work 12 and 10 hour shifts so find it a little difficult to fit in the exercise and meal preparing. But theres no excuse, especially now I'm visiting bridal shops and getting that 'another fat bride to be, lets give her an ugly dress to cover up in' look from sales people.

I want to lose 3-4 stone, by biggest concern are my arms, hate them, my weight is distributed fairly evening, but definately want to slim arms to look good in a wedding gown! I have posted pics before and I'm pretty much at the same weight as I was then!

I've lost 7lbs in the last 3 weeks, it's going ok, but my biggest problem is sweet cravings when I finish a 12 hour shift, my fiance is in the navy and is away, so theres a lot of time alone at home of an evening. Any tips on avoiding late night snacking/boredom eating? I eat lots of veg and a fair amount of fruit, so have no problems eating healthily, I just find it hard to avoid snacking on sweet foods, major chocoholic! Any advice/inspiration will help!!!

Tara.

I also apologise for some rather obvious spelling mistakes, I am now 8.5 hours in to a 12 hour shift and my brain has turned into mush!

could you tell us your height and start weight? I hope you find this place a great help- i started 2 months ago and am 28lbs down and i couldnt have done ANY of it without the people on here. At the end of a hard day coming here and posting your feelings is a great help

good luck xxx

EDIT!

I want to lose 3-4 stone, by biggest concern are my arms, hate them,

Do weights- small ones- atm i do 4kg ones gone up from 3kg, and my arms are 2 inches smaller since i started, its the best thing you can do- it can make the boobs smaller too :)

Hi, I'm 5'6 and weight 215lbs! :-( But don't look too unfortunate at 170, thats my goal for now. I'd like to be out of the 200's within a month ideally! Thanks for your advice on the arms!!

How did you lose you weight Tilly? Did you do any specific programme?

i go to the gym 5 times a week(sometimes 6 if im feeling energetic) i do the cross trainer- the tredmill and of course work my arms for the weights. The incline on the tredmill has helped greatly with my weight loss and even if i dont feel like running on an incline ill do it- even if its only for a few seconds it gets the heart rate going

i also keep an eye on my heart rate during workouts and make sure its in the fat burning zone , Food wise- i eat what i want basically, if i want a bar of choc ill have it - i just make sure i incorporate it into my calories. i eat a lot of fish and eggs its great for repairing your body after a workout

Thats pretty much what i do :)

Same Height!

Hi Tarauk - looks like we're starting on the same week and same height. Good Luck to you, you have something so wonderful to keep you motivated!!! :waving:

Tarauk,

I too am a bride to be of 2012! I'm 21 years old, 5'4" and 170lbs. I put the about 25 lbs on over the last year, just as you said, it was the curse of being happy in my relationship. lol My arms arms are chunky and I've got a terrible case of huge love handles. My fiance keeps telling me I look fine and that he likes it, but I just don't feel as pretty as I used to be.

Hopefully we can motivate eachother and do this!

I'm struggling with both eating and exercising.

FluerDeLis

I lost 65lbs of fat by eating 4-6 small meals every three hours daily and I exercised. It wasn't an easy feat, but I did it. Each of my meals were about 300-400 calories. I boost the calories up when I started working out harder. It took me three weeks to get use to eating that way and now it is a habit.

Try to eat dark chocolate. If you eat 1oz it has about 150 calories. Maybe that will help with the sweet craving. I eat dark chocolate and drink a glass of water and I am good.

Sweet fix:

Sugar free Jello puddings, pureed fresh fruit (any) with water, layered by the tbsp in a popsicle mould.

Examples:

sugar free cheesecake and pureed strawberries
chocolate and banana
chocolate and pineapple
chocolate and cherries
vanilla and blueberries
chocolate and raspberries

really the possibilities are endless. I got popsicle moulds made by Jelly Belly from bed bath and beyond for 3.99 and they hold four. sugarfree puddings and fresh fruit, for four tablespoons, have about 60 calories in them. the pudding is creamy when it melts, like ice cream, and the fruit is sweet! you could add some artificial sweeter to it if you like, but i don't like that stuff so i just do it without sweetner. or honey or agave nectar might be good too! but it would add calories. peanut butter would be good too, but that would add a lot of cals.

also, I just saw that you are not from the U.S. so I'm not sure if you have sugarfree Jello puddings or Bed Bath and Beyond... :D

but I'm sure you have an equivalent, right!??!?!

Haha Yeah Chelsea, we have an equivalent here, thanks for your suggestions... I'm now a few weeks in, i'm doing well. I am down 12lbs in total so far. I'm finding the calories easier to stick to now I've been doing it a while and keep finding more ways of eating more for my calories, keeping myself full. I do crackerbreads with extra light cream cheese and cucumber as a snack, about 150cals and I love it. The sweet cravings are tailing off now too, I'm finding it easier as I eat less of it.

Fleur - I'm found it hard to resist thinking about the bigger picture, I get ahead of myself and want it all now, to see the dramatic results, instead of taking each day as it comes. I think a countdown calendar is really good for that, I find it works best just taking each day at a time and setting small goals, I want to be under the 190s but the time I wedding dress shop at the end of september. I exercise 5 days a week for 30 mins of cardio and just do 10-20 mins of resistance/weight training for toning. I find it easiter to spread it over more days than say do 3 days for an hour a time. Good Luck!!!!!

Came into work today, I'm working with a girl I haven't been on shift with for a month or so, and she immediately noticed my weight loss, and said there is such a difference already. Days like this keep me motivated! Also got into my old work trousers that were too tight for me, fit perfectly now! Yey!
