I'm a 19 year old guy who plays lacrosse in college. In a little over a month I will be having a surgery that will extremely limit my mobility, putting me either in crutches or a wheel chair while I recover. My eating habits were always offset by my constant involvement in sports. Now that I have been out while I prepare for surgery I've gained about 20 pounds over the last 6 months. I'm carrying most of it on my belly. Now I'm trying to slim down as much as possible before the surgery because I know it will be very difficult to keep weight off post-surgery. My big issues are pretty common, eating late at night and when bored.

I'm somewhat limited when it comes to exercise, as I need to keep the impact put on my hips to a minimum as surgery approaches. This rules out any variations of squats or long-distance running. So far I've been biking and doing core workouts. Swimming for exercise has been suggested but I have not tried experimented there yet.

Hi Robert!

Well the good thing for yo is weight loss comes down to eating. If you control your eating habits then the lack of exercise won't matter.

Of course it's always better to exercise as it has other great benefits. But if weight loss is your goal that is just smart eating.

Get rid of the crap food in your house so when the late night munchies hit you have to have something healthy. If your eating out of boredom then keep yourself occupied. Stay focused on your goal and you will get there.
