im a 19 year old student, who's been affaceted greatly by his weight. Its halted my social life, my love life and made me into a hermit.

the fat feels like its attached to me and NEEDS TO GET OFF, i dont go to the mall or to parties because i feel like i look disgusting and i just HATE the way i look. I wanna fit in the clothes i like ( i do but they dont look good) and i wanna have some confidence, im a good looking guy but my body is holding me back. There has been some girls that have shown interest, but my lack of confidence made me blow it.

IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WHO WAS OR IS IN MY SITUATION?!?!?!
i wanna talk to a guy who is/bottom heavy and is losing/lost the weight and give me some pointers, things to make to perservere and tell me about how u did it.

I AM NOT HAPPY WITH MY BODY AND I AM FED UP WITH BEING FAT, time to make this body match my face ( im not conceited or vain, its the only thing i find attractive about myself).

i wanna feel comfortable in a tshirt in summer instead of finding a reason to wear a bloody hoodie, i wanna go to a friggin club and have the girls come to me.

Yeah, I lost some weight at one time, but I didn't keep it off.
I did it by exercising, a lot. I was in school and had access to a great gym.
First, let me say that once you exercise you'll feel 1000 times more confident. And you'll want to go to parties and stuff. It's a great benefit of exercise. You do something, and then you're proud you did it.
Second, in order for me to make recommendations I have to have more info about you. How much do you weigh, and how tall are you, to start.
I also need to know what types of exercises you are willing and able to do.
Do you have a dog? If so, why aren't you walking it daily?
(do you have access to a gym or are you willing to join one? Is there any exercise equip in your home that you can use or any where else? Do you have an Xbox or Wii?) I guess I really need a lot of details if I'm going to help you!
IF you can run, then start running....... IMO, it's the VERY fastest way to lose weight, OR a lot of time on a stair climber or a treadmill with a heavy incline (a high angle) will really burn those calories off. (This is based on the simple principle of physics that it take a hell of a lot more work to go up than it does to go forward) Then during, before, or in between do some sets of pushups, situps, dumbbells, or whatever. But I lost the most weight by focusing on tough cardio, like running, and using those machines. I mostly really didn't do a lot of weight training, just a few sets of the basics daily (usually 10 mins. max to keep my upper body from getting flabby. Don't even THINK about trying to get your abs ripped or huge guns or chest or anything yet, focus on fat reduction, muscle strength and endurance. You biggest most effective fat burning muscles are in your legs. By default, you're already using more them more than any other muscle. So, put that to good use, you already have some endurance in your legs, I mean.. you carry over 200 lbs on them every day, for long periods of time, right? Make the best use of THAT and you'll be off to a fantastic start.
So.......... give me more info about yourself, and let's do it!
:auto:
Also... some people would say that you should start by focusing on diet. That's definitely true, but when I see a young healthy person on here, I think that I should just get them moving, since IMO your muscles are a much greater asset to you at this age than your ability to control your diet! Honestly, when I lost weight the first time around, I never thought much about what I ate, but I did do the basics, cut out junk food, stick to 3 meals a day, ate more salad and veggies, stuff like that.

Re:

I'm 5'11" and weigh 218

As for exercises, I hate running or anything monotonous and stationary, I,ve been trying to do something that's fun and effective but haven't found anything. As for a gym, my confidence level is definitely a reason why I'm not always in one. But I do have a treadmill at home.

I use to be into heavy strength training and gained a lot of muscle from that, but I did NO cardio, and that's y I look the way I look today.
I just wanna get out of this lazy rut I'm in and do something good for myself and I'm going starting today.

Since I hate jogging I'm looking into sprinting, I've heard that its very effectivel at burning a lot of callories in a shorter period of time.

Sorry, man, you're going to have to get OUT of that mind set. What a lot of people do is watch TV or listen to music while they work out. Exercising takes time, and can be monotonous.
As far as fun goes, a lot of people like the P90x workouts.
If you really want to lose weight, you're going to avoid making excuses, and just go an do it.
Also, you're really not that fat, what do you consider your ideal weight? 170-180?
....
Do you know how athletes get in shape? they run. Every single college and pro athlete has to run A LOT. No, you don't have to run, but you really should move those legs around a bit.

Hi,

I know you wanted advise from men but I just wanted to say I agree with monster. Running is the best form of cardio excersice you can get. It is amazing how fast your fitness increases with running. The first time I did a long distance run my stomach muscles and everything were hurting. At first I went in with a plan to run/walk and I did this for about 3weeks like running for 2mins walking for 2 kinda thing then I just went for it. I just went in with the distance of 5k and just decided I wasn't gonna stop until I did 5k regardless of how long it took me and I decided I was just gonna run and just keep going until I couldn't run any more and I ran for 10mins without stopping. IMO rather than running/walking your body will tell you when you can't run anymore. I know excercising is boring but you just have to do it if you want to lose weight and get fitter it just has to be done. I also do at least one session of interval running which is better for losing weight. I run for 1min walk for one but the 1 mins run is more of a sprint and I do it at a speed of 9.5 and walk at aspeed of 5.0 but I struggle to get my interval running past 20mins cos i find interval running really hard work but it's really not meant to be easy - if it was easy neither of us would be here and I personally am in it for the long run. You will find this forum fantastic - my attitude to losing weight has totally changed since being here. For example I did one 5k run last week and only did one gym session and did not lose anyweight. Infact I have been struggling with losing weight for the past few weeks and for me before finding this i would hate myself and think I was a failure and give up but finding somewhere like this you realise you are not in it on your own and it's not easy - if we could all lose weight easily we would not be here. We are all here for you and the important thing to remember is yeah you may say right I'm gonna work out 6times a week and eat this that and the other and it may not work but it's all about not giving up -if something isn't working you just tweak your plan until you find the balance that works for you - you will get there eventually. You can do it and remember we are all here to help you. Good luck :0)

re:

Running is not thr ONLY exercise, I can swim I can box I can do p90x. I'll find out what I like and stick to it

As for a weight goal, I'd say 30 in 2 months is realistic, in time for summer.
