19 and fighting back

Bet you guys hear this all the time, but what's one more right? I'm off to the gym.. going every other day, but today going to start going every day if I can keep it up. I've been going to the gym for the past 2 months and I've lost 20lbs so far. Right now my routine only includes running 55 minutes on the eliptical (that how it's spelled?) machine. It's actually very painful everytime.. I drink a whole glass of water beforehand which fortunately allows me just to make the run.

I've been focusing on eating less than 2000 calories a day.. is that still too many? Also I have sworn off entirely from sweets.. I may splurge once a month with a milkshake but that's really about it. Pizza.. fast foods, all gone down the drain (unless I'm broke and have nothing to eat but my bros left over pizza.. dieting is rough with no money unfortunately). Someone told me I should go for 1800 calories instead. I was weighing 265 at 5'10 but now I'm down to 245 and feel a lot better. I want to be done to 185 (I'm guessing thats a good weight) before the end of 2005.

Can I accomplish this goal by keeping under 2000 calories and just running for 55minutes a day? I feel I could go longer but I refuse to let myself take a break while I run no matter how much pain I'm in so I finish it no matter what but in doing that at the end of the 55 I can't stand to continue.. my body is wobbly and it's a struggle to stand. I realize it's going to be very hard work to loose this weight but I absolutely must do it no matter what. So.. my new regimen is looking like this:

Calorie intake: 1800
Workout Schedule: 55mins cardio/5 days a week

Hopefully I can start losing 4lbs a week instead of 2 by doubling up. Is this possible? Thanks to all those that read and reply!

dont keep your calories too low for too long a peroid of time. that'll hurt more than it will help. also thats alot of cardio. you may end up wearing yourself down with that.

are you doing any weight training? adding muscle will help to increase your metabolism.

how many meals are you eating each day? 5-6 small meals a day also helps to increase your metabolism.

these are just some ideas that can help you more than continuing to decrease calories and spending too much time on cardio. :)

It is a lot of cardio.. :( but I'm sticking with it. As a matter of fact I just bought a Precor elliptical machine for my home so I can start running 3 times a day (once in the morning when I wake up, another in the evening and another before I go to bed). How do I know how long is too long to keep the calories low?

I don't do any weight training right now as I'm kinda embarassed at the gym and just preferred to stay to myself and do my cardio stretch, drink my gatorade and fight to not eat anything unhealthy. When I run I'm forced to eat more often but I make sure it's small.. maybe a wrap from Subway or some cereal, something like that. I just hope this is the right road and my lack of calories won't hinder me losing weight for some strange reason!
