18yo male - lose weight before college?

Hi, I'm an 18 year old incoming college freshman looking to get in shape before I go to college. I'm about 5'9" (5'10" on a good day), 165 lbs and just generally flabby "girly man" as Arnold Schwarzenegger would say. I eat OK, nothing terrible, generally small amounts of generally unhealthy foods. I have a lot of stomach fat, love handles, moobs, fat upper arms, and a fat face (as you can tell by the picture I'm also very hairy although I shave the front side about every 10 days). I have a bit of upper body strength, I can do 30-40 pushups and about 5 pullups. I think I want to lose between 10 and 20 pounds, basically my goal is to become lean and toned (but not really that muscular). So 2 questions:

1. What should I eat? I actually have no idea. I heard that more muscle leads to more calories burned during workouts which leads to more fat burned. I want muscle but not that much (see above).

2. How should I work out? From my research I learned that interval training seems the best (I absolutely hate sustained running). So this maybe 5 days a week for 30 minutes? I don't know. I have a treadmill but no weights and I would prefer not to buy any, so can I do "body weight training" to increase muscle tone?

Thanks for the help, as you can tell I'm clueless
