16 year old getting fit

Hi, I'm 16 years old and wanting to get fit! I'm afraid our household doesn't have scales for some reason, but I think I'm just over 150lb? I'm 5ft10.

As part of the whole 2010 new years resolution thing, I've decided I need to get fit. I'm not skinny, and not fat, but I could lose a couple of lbs around the stomach area as a flat stomach would be nice. I'd quite like to build up some muscle, mainly upperbody, but I'm open to whatever suggestions you have.

Eating wise, I have:

Breakfast: Bowl of Cereal
Snack (11am): Piece of fruit and Snack Bar
Lunch: Sandwich, Biscuit and Yoghurt or Snack Bar
Snack (4.30pm): Biscuit
Dinner: Pretty much anything. Quite a lot of Pasta dishes. Followed by a Pudding!
Snack (10pm): Bowl of Cereal

I have too many biscuits! :p

Exercise wise... well, I don't actually do any exercise, although I'm hoping to start some!
I walk to college or/and back 3 days a week. It is about 3/4 miles away.
I'm starting Golf tomorrow, but that doesn't really count as exercise.

I normally just sit in front of a stupid computer! >.<

I don't have access to any weights or gym which is why I haven't made an effort to get fit I suppose! - So I was hoping your suggestions would just be about stuff I could do at home without weights! Sorry, I'm probably a lost cause.

This is the routine I started today, although it doesn't have much info on dieting. iwantsixpackabs.com/my_video_journal
I had to lessen some reps of exercises, as I'm quite weak!

Please Help! :-D

What's up, man? You're not a lost cause. Getting "in-shape" is all relative. You can be 50lbs over weight but in perfect health, although, usually not the case. Anyways, yes, golf does count as exercise, weather you realize it or not, anytime you think, move, blink, out in the heat, cold, drink fluids, digest food, it all uses energy (burns calories) Start with pushups and sit ups. When you can do 25 pushups in a row, message me, we can go from there.

Male or female?

yarrrrrr andy congrats on wanting to change bud! Keep it up, started my battle with weight when I was about your age. You're never a lost cause, you're 16, plenty of time. Not a day that goes by I don't think "what if" I stuck to it that young, 23 now and still trying. Keep up the good fight, don't quit. look around you, create your own weigths and resistance, get creative. Old milk jugs and sand? Who knows..

good luck

Hello Andy, congrats on your decision, you're so young and you can easily get in shape if you followed a healthy diet system.

Being 16 means that you're still growing and your body needs a specific amount of protein, carbohydrates, fat and vitamins to function properly which means that you have to follow a healthy diet that has a bit of everything, the diet you posted above is not healthy and your body will lack lots of needed elements. You haven't mentioned any fruits nor veggies :confused4:
