Hello, new guy here. :patriot:

Here are my current stats:

5'10" 213 pounds.

Last October I was 250 lbs. From March of this year until the current date I have gone from 232-213. The last bit I have done with portion control and 1 hour of cardio 5 days a week. That's right at an average of 2 lbs a week, so I'm confident I have my eating under control and at a good calorie intake. I do count my calories a little bit but I'm not keeping them strictly.

My goal is 200lbs. I would love to hit it before I go on a canoe trip in 5 weeks. Is this doable? I know that's a 3lbs average and unwise, but I would really like to hit that goal by that date.

Any advice on how I could achieve this?

I know... I'll eat dirt and lift weights! :ack2:

*crickets chirp*

I suppose continuing what I'm doing is not the worst idea. It's been working and will put me within 4lbs of my goal. :)

I suspect most people aren't going to give you advice on how to lose in an unhealthy way. :)

At your current weight, about 2 lbs a week is reasonable and healthy. In 5 weeks, if you keep being reasonable and healthy, you'll lose 10 lbs. Will 5 lbs really really make that much difference? I suspect not. ;)

Just keep being healthy. You'll wind up better off in the long run.

Yeah, pretty much the conclusion I have came to. :)

Shaun,

FWIW, I've been losing about 10-12lbs a month since January. One thing that has help me is doing about 20 minutes of strenuous weights before the cardio work. I've been using a fairly cheap home system, but a couple of dumbbells are cheap and work really well too.

Good luck,
Pingwax
