14 years old. needs to lose around 20 pounds.

My name is River, and I am currently 14 years old, about 5'11, and I weigh about 170, most of it being body fat. I'm not happy with my weight, and I want to look my best when I start high school next year. I will also be playing lacrosse and I want to be fit and prepared for it. I wanted to know if anybody had helpful advice or exercise routines that could help me lose my body fat and gain muscle. Thank you.

Good to see that you play lacroose. I recommend just spend in any sorts of physical activity you enjoy most at least 60 minutes for per day. But please don’t try to push it hard now to lose your weight quickly.

There are lots of cardio exercise you may add in your dally workout routine. It would help you to lose your overall weight gradually. Such as:

• Running
• Bicycling
• Swimming
• Walking
• Elliptical trainer
• Jogging

I recommend please add some intense exercise on regular basis in order to gaining muscle over time along with those cardio exercise.

Just be cautious since it’s critical to remember that increased muscle tone can cause a weight gain. As fat is replaced by muscle, an individual will become more fit and toned, but muscle weighs more than fat, so this change can result in a slight rise in weight.

I suggest that a combination of cardiovascular exercise, such as swimming and jogging and light strength training, including resistance work, can limit the amount of muscle gain, while still providing healthy toning and increased metabolism.
