Hello all, I thought I would give this site a try, I have looked at the articles and need a little help so I thought I would start my own diary to help me lose weight.

A little about me

Male

5'8"

15 stone (210lbs) approx

I am going to start Slimming World tomorrow, with the intention of losing approx 30lbs in the 12 weeks leading up to my impending wedding.

I will keep a daily food diary on here to keep me on track.

Good luck, 2.5lbs a week is an achievable (some might even say slightly high for your current weight) target if you put your mind to it. There's a ton of information and helpful threads around this site so get stuck in, indeed!

to be honest I was aiming at 2lbs a week so 24lbs in the 12 weeks, may make it may not.

I will tell you how slimming world goes, I think it may ba a bit like a real life version of this website:

ie eat healthily and have lots of support.

thanks for the support Jess, I go to my first SW meeting tonight, but I started the plan yesterday.

It was easier than i thought just have to see if it works.

first week of slimming world completed.

I was weighed last tuesday at 221 lbs so 11 lbs heavier than i thought.

I have stuck to the plan - most ly green days (i will explain more in a second) and was weighed this week at 218lbs so a nice healthy 3lb loss.

Slimming World is broken in to three colours

Red - (effectivley Atkins lite) as much meat as you like but cut out the fat, limited carbs as healthy extras and limited veg.

Green - (sensible diet) as much fruit and veg as you like with 1 small amount of carbs and 1 small amount of protein as healthy extras.

Amber - meant to be easy extra, a mix of red and green but really hard to follow.

All 3 allow you 15 syns, eg a packet of crisps/chips is about 6 syns, a single vodka is 2 syns. You can save them up if you want a blow out at the weekend or use them daily.

I am following the green, the only real changes i have made is slightly smaller meat portions, white to wholewheat bread and cut out chocolate (you could have them all as syns but i have chosen not to to be healthier.

Still sticking to the diet, not going to weigh in tonight as i have my driving test theory tonight so double weigh in next week.

started moderate daily exercise 30 minutes of exercise dvd daily, feel much better for it, added to the walking miles in the snow.

sticking to the diet, it is going well, another 2lbs off this week (a week that included a couple of beers watching the mighty Newcastle beat Liverpool and a pizza).

Playing 6 - a - side football tonight and a couple of miles walk to pick up Tom from the childminder and drop him with the mother-in-law, before a 1.5 mile walk to play football, and i am looking forward to the fresh air and stretching my legs (i never thought i would say that).

Hey man,

Sounds like you're finding plenty of room to add a bit of exercise here and there into your routine, glad to hear you've had a couple of consecutive weeks with the pounds dropping off, it will certainly help to spur you on to keeping it up.

Hope your theory test went well?!

Congratulations on your progress thus far!

White to wheat bread is an easy but very helpful change to make!

Also I lost ALOT of weight just by drinking water all the time instead of pop, juice etc.

Keep up the good work!

slimming world this week: lost 4.5lbs
total in 4 weeks 9.5lbs

i don't feel like i am dieting just sensible food choices and i feel much better.

failed the theory by 1 point.

passed the hazard perception half
but got 43/50 when you need 44/50 for the multiple choice half.

put 2.5lbs on christmas week (devestated)
lost 1.5lbs last week (elated)

1lb up for the holidays not bad at all down to 15st 2.5lbs / 212.5lbs

managed 21.5lbs in the 12 weeks to the wedding so a little less than i thought i might but still happy. currently 204lbs next target is under 200.
