Its about time for an update, so, here it is.....
The first photo, of myself and er... Kylie, was taken back in late 2005. Back then I was almost 50 pounds overweight, drank too much, suffered chronic indigestion, poor health, got out of breath easy (actually, I was getting rather out of breath while this photo was being taken!), slept poorly, couldn't run far, poor skin, felt my heart pounding in bed, etc....
Second photo shows my weight loss during my 'cutting period'. I started to lose weight in March 2006, and reached my target of 'spot on' BMI by August 2006. My method was healthy balanced diet, lots of salad, reduced calorie consumption (although I was too lazy to count them), and exercise - starting with walking, but culminating in dog-running and strength training.
Third photo taken September 2006. I had stopped 'cutting' by now, but was exercising heavily and eating... well!
Fourth, fifth and sixth photos (taken today) almost one year after exchanging my lifestyle. I have reduced strength training to only 2 or 3 times per week - but I run with Wolfy 3 to 5 miles, 2 or 3 times per week also. I'm still a long way from being satisfied. I still have some excess fat on my belly and chest. I'm still conscious of having man-boobs.
However on the bright side... I feel fitter, healthier: I never suffer indigestion; my skin feels great (for a 44 year old with years of hard living behind him), my blood pressure is great, my cholesterol levels perfectly healthy, I can run miles without stopping - despite being a lifetime asthmatic, my sexual appetite is so much better, I haven't suffered from so many colds or viruses this past year, I can outrun my kids, I feel more confident.
Its not just about weightloss for me. If it was, I would have stopped last August. Its about taking responsibility, and about quality of life.
Any other 43 year olds out there reading this - come in, the waters warm!
