any advice? How far before hand should i eat?
How would you pace the miles? ( faster first, then slow down or start slow and speed up as i go?)

Thanks all!!!!

whoooo hooo!!!! I am pumped:hurray:

Just go your usual pace, you will find that being in a group makes you go faster anyway, and as a general rule you can run/bike twice the distance you train. ie if you are running regular 5 miles then 10 should be fine.
When other people are involved you tend to go a little harder so dont be too down on yourself if you get over taken, just get to the end and have fun :)

Yeah, don't worry too much about it. Just run.

Your pace will moderate itself, generally. Keep steady - there's no need to start fast or anything.

Just eat what you would eat before any workout.

You've run further than this before - it will just be a jog in the park for you. :)

Good luck and have fun! Rootin for ya!

Most of my runner friends try to run negative splits, i.e. starting out slow and running faster as they go. Granted, they do more marathons, but I still like the idea of saving some energy to finish strong and pass people who started fast towards the end b/c you saved your best miles for last.

I'm really wanting to try my first 5K soon, but it's cold now, and they're aren't any races up here.

Nice! I've never done that before, and I hope to one day. Think about all the calories burnt, and it feels good to run in those events with a good cause, I think March of Dimes is one. I wanna be apart of one, but I don't know where they have those.

So how did the 10K go?
