Day 70
Starting weight: 231 Lbs
Current weight: 194 Lbs
Current BMI: 25.74
Target weight: 176 Lbs
Loss to date: 37 Lbs
Left to lose: 18 Lbs
10 weeks ago at 231 Lbs and with a BMI of 30 plus I was categorised as Obese. I avoided having my photo taken, hated the prospect of warmer weather meaning I would have to ditch my 'comfort' sweatshirts, joggers and hoodies and I had no real sense of why I weighed what I did other than I had a very sedentary lifestyle the past 3 years since my first daughter was born.
10 weeks later I have lost 37 Lbs down (2 Stone 9 Lbs/16.7 Kilos) and I feel great. I am happier walking around in a t-shirt and shorts and even walk around the house just in my boxer shorts during the day (I work from home). In the last 40 days I have been outside for a run on 21 occasions and last week ran 19.4 miles in total and have already covered 9 miles in 2 days this week and have a 5km race that I have entered tomorrow.
The response from people around me has been mixed - some have been very supportive and some doubt my ability to keep it off. I have to remind the doubters that this is a lifestyle change and not a diet. I don't do diet food and I never skip meals.
I am only 2/3 of the way to my goal of 176 Lbs and I may need to adjust that goal when I get nearer as something tells me I may even need to drop that down to 174 Lbs (BMI of 23).
When I get down to 176 Lbs I have the next challenge which will be
1. how to increase my calorie intake to ensure I don't continue to lose weight
2. moving to exercise which will promote strength building as opposed to fat burning
Good luck in your own challenges.
