Osgood Schlotter

I've heard something called Osgood schlotters disease it's something to do with the knees and I play sports and exercise which involve bending the knees. My knee has been hurting recently and I'm quite concerned I have it but on the other hand i fell recently so I'm not sure about it. Should I go to the doctors or is there any tips on how to prevent or heal it?

Someone could write an encyclopaedia on the different injuries that you can get in your knee. (Someone probably did, actually.) There are some more severe ones and many minor ones. If it's something that's really chronically bothering you, go get it checked out.

I think you should not take those seriously. Injuries to the bones are usually accompanied by damage to surrounding 'soft tissues' – that's things like muscles, ligaments, tendons and so on.

It sounds as if you have inflamed some of that tissue. So take action as early as possible.

It is important to rest from the exercises for a few days till the swelling starts to settle.

In addition it might help to take an anti-inflammatory pill such as aspirin or ibuprofen for three or four days, but make sure these are suitable for you to take first by asking your pharmacist.

If it hasn't settle significantly within seven days go and get it examined by your doctor.

I had osgood in my teens. It's something to do with the tendon pulling away from the bone. In fact (don't quote me though) I think its more common in adolescents as its more related to growth and development. It's a growing pain.

If you think you might have this, the type of pain would be on the tendon connecting to your shin down the front and in my experience, it would hurt when I kicked and when knelt for long periods of time (still does to a lesser extent).

Hope that helps. :)

I had this in high school. Bones growing fast and tendons, ligaments try to catch up. Try Theracurmin fom Natural Factors. I am literally pain/stiffness free with this product!
