Hello!

I am new to this community and looking for information on cross fit trainig/boot camp training methods. I am a new mom looking to get back in shape after having my baby.

Hey and welcome to the forum! Congrats on being a mom! I would recommend making crossfit/bootcamps a goal for a few months or longer down the road. The reason being that these types of programs carry a high risk of injury for beginners and often don't have an actual beginner level. How long ago did you have your baby? What were you doing for exercise before and during pregnancy?

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I actually really enjoy crossfit and Bootcamp type of training. I had my baby 7 weeks ago. I plan to get started as soon as I hit the 8 week mark recommended by my doctor. Before pregnancy I was doing a bootcamp and during my pregnancy just brisk walking daily.

Good Evening Navaog - I am new to this site as well and was going to introduce myself and then saw your post about cross fit/boot camp training. I'm curious to hear more about what you mean by methods? My methods are similar to Cross Fit but more holistic. (removed)

I own/operate a Personal Training business in Wake Forest, NC by trade and work full time as a Public Health Educator. My main interest in this site is to network with people and make connections and equally in learning as much as I can via forums.

I'm not really wanting to be argumentative here, but did your doctor actually clear you for bootcamp-type exercise at 8 weeks, or did they say that it would be OK to begin physical activity at 8 weeks? Just keep in mind that even after 8 weeks, your body is still in a much different state than before you were pregnant (for example, looser joints).

Ok, my opinion aside... where were you doing the classes before you got pregnant? Are those classes not available anymore? In my area, there is an instructor that I know that teaches Mom & Baby boot camps... basically you can bring your child along in a jogging stroller and she will do outdoor fitness classes with the group. As for crossfit, if you google crossfit, you should be able to find out where they are located and in which cities. If you're not planning on going to a gym at all, you should be able to find crossfit or bootcamp type workouts online that don't require equipment.

For some reason part of my post was "removed" but I would agree with what PLBFitness said as far as advice on where you can find cross fit classes in your local area. I like cross fit and do a lot of similar exercises myself. One thing to be careful of is when you Google cross fit and checkout videos the form with many of the heavy moves are wrong and potentially could be really bad for the body and injury in general.

From what I know going to cross fit gyms is the best approach. Cross fit instructors really focus on form and the beginner training programs spend weeks and weeks on end focusing on just form before getting really into it, which ROCKS!

Also if you are into the Beach Body franchise many of their at home programs you can buy on DVD are great for boot camp-like routines and really kick your butt.
Thanks
