Branden's "Get Right Challenge" for weight loss and fitness...

Hey everyone! My name is Branden and I'm getting ready to start on a 5-month health and fitness challenge I created for myself, called the Get Right Challenge, starting next week. The challenge will be video blogged on YouTube for the entire 5 months. The goal, to be in the best shape of my life by the time I finish grad school (this May). I am video blogging primarily as a way to keep myself accountable for the 5 months, and maybe by seeing me go through the process step by step, I'll be able to inspire others to accomplish their own fitness goals as well.

It starts with a minimum 7 day juice fast, and will then transition into a 5 month journey of discovering and following through on a healthy diet and exercise. I've also asked people to get involved who have physical activities they do that are not typical to my life, and I'll feature those in the blog (such as skiing, hiking, or jogging a 5k...things I never do).

Check out the blog. I've got two teasers up, and I tried my best to make them entertaining and creative:

Teaser 1:
Teaser 2:

I'm here not to ask if what I'm doing is good or not, but rather for tips on successful health and fitness strategies and perhaps any creative ideas you think I could add to the blog. I'm very new to this, and would love for your input during this challenge!

Thank you all for your time, and I'm glad I found this forum! I think it will be a very useful resource for me! Be sure to subscribe to my channel if you'd like to keep up with the latest on my challenge, and definitely leave me comments, encouragement, or suggestions on YouTube! I can use all the help I can get! Looking forward to meeting you all!

Thanks,
Branden

Nice job! I subscribed, my names claimifcation on youtube. I'll be watching your videos.

Hey Claimifcation! Thanks for the reply! Please let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions for me with this project. I want this to be as successful as possible! Thanks again bro!

I looked at the videos. Good stuff. Got me lolling. I'm subscribed now :)

The best tip I can give is take it one step at a time. Don't go Biggest Loser style and go from 0 exercise + 5,000kcal/day to 4hrs exercise + 800kcal/day. It's just not something that is realistic to live by, it doesn't set a good example for anyone who'll be inspired to follow in your footsteps, and it's a high risk venture which results in an equally high risk of burning out/injuring yourself and failing to complete the mission.

So in the first month, just learn some basic exercises and focus on getting good at them. Don't overhaul your diet, but start making a few small, mundane changes, even if it's just putting more vegetables on your plate. It might be a good idea, both for yourself and for the videos, to learn a new recipe and/or exercise each week. Maybe?

Goldfish,

I LOVE that idea about the recipe and exercise thing! The entire point of this video series is to show a balanced outlook on fitness, with the goal toward health not just a specific weight loss goal. I do not want to do any get-skinny-quick kinds of things at all. I really like your ideas though, and will incorporate them into my video series. Thanks for the input!
