17 years old and needing to lose weight effectively and quickly if possible.

Hi, I'm 17 years old 5'6 and weigh 184 lbs. I'm built like a basketball player. I am wanting to lose weight but finding a diet I can stick to is hard. I have a torn ACL and torn ligaments in my ankle therefore I'm not able to do much physical activity. I'm fixing to start my senior year therefore i would like to lose weight beofre it starts and I'm tired of being over weight and being tired all the time. So if you could give me any tips at all it would be greatly appreciated!

It will be hard since you can't run, that is the most effective way.

Can you use elipticals?

Also, make sure your diet does not have you eat past 7pm, so your metabolism has more time to change.

Do you have access to any exercise equipment, or a pool? There are a lot of different forms of exercise that can be done with low impact on the low body. Are you waiting for surgery? Do you have any restrictions on what types of activity you should/shouldn't be doing? As for diet, don't try to take on a "diet," try to make small, positive changes to your overall nutrition - one or two small changes per week. For example, the first week, you might try to drink less soda and more water. The second week, try adding a serving of fruit and a serving of veggies more per day... and so on.

Since you are not able to involved with too much physical activity, it would be better for you to start with exercise with biking instead of running or jogging until your injury is properly healed.

Is that possible for you to swim in the pool? If you can’t swim then try to learn it if possible. I believe you would also agree with me that swimming is the best option for you to consider according to your current physical condition.

If you spend 30 minutes doing the breastroke and you'll burn almost 400 calories. Best of all, your joints are fully supported so you don't have to worry about high-impact injuries. It's also great cross-training for other cardio activities.
