New

Greetings,

I'm new. I didn't really see a good forum where I could post this question so here goes: I've been exercising pretty regularly for a while now. For some reason, when standing I cannot touch my toes with bending my knees. When I try this, I can feel real tightness in the back of my legs. I'd kind of like to be able to touch my toes and have been doing a lot of stretching, but this doesn't seem to matter much. Are there any things I can do to accomplish this?

Thank You

Different people have different degrees of flexibility, so just because the majority of people who exercise may be able to touch their toes, doesn't mean everyone will be able to. Flexibility is definitely something that you have to build up over time. Perhaps try doing some yoga as this is very focused on flexibility.
Make sure that you are stretching properly after all cardio or weights sessions so that you lengthen out your muscles and prevent your hamstrings from tightening up.
Never stretch when you are not fully warmed up as you could injure yourself.
If you are healthy and fit then not being able to touch your toes isn't really a big deal. Why not focus on what you are good at!
