Atkins

Okay, let me tell you something about this diet: It's worthless.

And let me tell you why: Because depriving yourself of carbs, is going to make you tired, why is it your think athletes eat like a spegheti{sp?} dinner the night before a big race? It has but loads of CARBS. In my research, I have found carbs=energy. You have zero carbs in your diet, that doesn't mean you will have no energy, but it does mean that you will be tired.

Carbs=fat is total BS for the following reasons: I have bad health habits, I eat on a daily basis, about 4-6 sodas daily {43g on my current 12 pack} a doughnut, 1-3 bagles {53g on this ones lable}{w\ loads of cream cheese, or a coat of butter} And I just finished off a case of doughnut holes {grazed on those for about two days. no food lable though} this is just my daily eatings. This list does not include things like dinner {today 4 pieces of pizza}, or the cookies that were fresh baked and very much enjoyed.

This averages an almost guarenteed 275 carbs a day, although I would bet I intake around 350-400 a day. This tells me that either I am still not intaking enough carbs to impact what I weigh {125 currently, I'm a freakin twig} or that the atkins diet is totaly full of crap. Unless some other factor is brought to my attention.

Oh on a personal note: yes I know my diet sucks, but I am trying to see if I can possibly gain weight, I don't think I will ever be able to weigh over 150 without a good set of weights.

ANYWAYS, tell me your thoughts, am I right, atkins is total BS, or would you like to tell me that I'm full of it? I'll take either, just want some responses.
 
Thats probably why the Atkins company has filed for bankrupcy, was in the paper this morning hehe.
 
first off i've never read the book. but the reason for that is i dont care for books of this sort. i've also heard from too many ppl i respect on how they make good livings picking up the pieces after ppl fail after trying this kinds of books.

the bankrupcty deal doesnt really surprise me
 
plain and simple, Atkins was another totally unbalanced diet program. It was bound to run the typical fad diet course.

"Don't eat fiber rich oatmeal...too many carbs! Instead enjoy this pound of bacon, which is carb free!"
 
The Atkins diet was originally deisgned for extermely overweight people who had to lose a lot of weight fast, as to avoiding overloading their heart.
No carbs, but, as Malkore said, eat bacon and meat.
So you'll lose the weight initially, but die in a few years from atherosclerosis!
And YES, they are going bankrupt!
People may be wising up!
 
Seems everyone is pretty much agreed, that was actualy unexpected. Yeah, I always hated how the atkins diet was like "yeah you can eat three hamburbers and a poound of bacon, but you can't have an apple, because the apple has carbs." lol, well seems my rant was uneeded, but I had to kill some time somehow.
 
Personally, I don't believe in no carbs at all. But I don't eat any fruit on the current diet I am on.

I have oatmeal and rice as my carbs and chicken and salmon and protien powder and such.

If your trying to gain some weight why don't you try out some weight gain powder and make some shakes each day. They actually taste pretty good.
