body shapping up but weight still exactly the same

Hi guys,
I have been doing a 4 day workout week.. and now my stamina is getting better by the week; and I can see my body getting into shape as well. But I dont see any weight loss..

I do a cardio+weight type workout

anyone else facing same/similar issue??

What is your weight training program like?

You will lose weight, Just keep patience.
Keeping patience is an important factor in any weight loss program.

dloop20 .. this is what I am currently doing
- one body part in a day
- 5 different combination of exercises for it
- 2 - 3 sets per exercise
- 100 rope skippings between each set (to keep a high heart rate)
around 1.5 hrs on average

do you suggest anything to add?

Rorys .. thnx buddy.. positive inspiration always helps :D

but I had a medical condition.. I had hyperthyroidism and high blood pressure.. I had to take tablets for the same... now I have normal blood pressure and thyroid function.. :D

I guess the meds for hyperthyroidism slows metabolism.. so I need to keep the exercise regular to eventually increase metabolism

This is why tracking weight, without knowing bodyfat, can be pointless. Muscle has weight...if you burn fat, but gain muscle, your net weight change can be 0, despite looking better in the mirror.

ohh.. thnx for that... but how do i calculate body fat?? i thought.. one should compare themselves to the average height-weight chart.. an all the excess weight one has for that particular height would be removable fat... is that correct??

You should not just be working on body part per day. You should be doing compound lifts, for example, Squats, hang cleans and other olympic lifts.

Some other good exercises are High-box step ups, bulgarian split squats.

A good complex you can do to help promote weight loss and build muscle is this,

Romanian deadlift
Hang cleans
hang snatch
squat

5-6 repetitions of each exercise, perform 3-4 times.

One obvious thing... how's your diet? Are you eating the right kinds and amounts of food? Check out some of the nutrition advice here on fitness.com, there's some great stuff. Otherwise, I would do some basic body fat evaluations. Check out this . It's pretty basic but can give you a good idea. Keep a food journal, too! And... if you see yourself getting in shape, isn't that the most important thing? The scale is not all knowing!

currently this is what i have..
- morning corn flakes and milk.. and some tea no sugar
- mid lunch fruit bowl
- lunch .. (i am in India) light small quantities of regular food I get in my office cafeteria
-- I ensure to have curd .. its great for your digestive systems..
- tea time .. some snack.. not to heavy
- gym in the late evening
- night have soup.. most veggies mixed with chicken.. no(or sometimes very less) salt
I have one Centrum multi vitamin/mineral tablet a day

Nope. Average height/weight charts are rubbish. First off, they were made 50 years ago. People's bodies are different now. Secondly...are you average? Am I average?
Without doing a bodyfat test with skinfold calipers, you're just guessing.

Just so you know, most pro-bodybuilders have 5% bodyfat during a competition, but if you went by height/weight charts or BMI, they'd be classified as morbidly obese.

Well i think i am right now on the fatter side of things.. i used to captain my soccer team back in school and college.. now working for an IT company.. things are almost everything on a chair.. so i did put on some weight... ohh btw.. today its almost my 3 rd week end with the high intensity work out :D.. and I lost a kilo :D... but my loosing weight is too slow.. i guess my body is still not metabolizing at the regular pace.. :( ..

all suggestions and help is appreciated from the bottom of my heath.. you guys keep me motivated to pump up the intensity every day....

actually i met a co-worker today he lost 20 kilos in 15 weeks.. damm but he doesnt exercise.. he has been taking some pills.. he calls then detox pills.. not sure if this is good.. but his body looks all weird.. loose skin.. less(almost no muscle) muscle.. if I had to race him in 100 meters.. I beat his ass by a mile.. i guess he lost all the water weight.. not sure.. but it definitely doesnt look natural.. or sustainable...

Weight loss or fat loss?

I'm with 'Malkore' on this one. TV Shows like Biggest Loser have led people to be so concerned about the scales that they miss the point.

I think it's awesome that you can see that your body is shaping up. This is way more important than losing 'weight'. Also, BMI charts (weight/height) are not a good way of tracking progress because once again, they depend on 'weight' and a whole lot of scientific assumptions...and we all know what happens when we ASSuME :)

Try using clothes sizes to record progress of whether your losing body fat (especially around your belly and lower body) as this is a practical and measureable way of keeping track of progress without any equipment or specialized measuring techniques.

Good luck!

Why do you only work your legs once a week?

I think his point is your legs are the largest muscles in the body, and therefore working them tends to burn a lot of energy. Plus you use your legs more than any other body part in daily activity, so its not good to neglect them.

There's nothing safe or healthy about dropping 20kilos in 15 weeks. Losing a kilo a week is even a bit unsafe. 'Detox pills' are rubbish. Don't eat crap food and you won't need to detox...and detoxing doesn't come from a pill but a rigorous diet and fluid intake. Nothing more.

Give your body some time, everybody have different types of body due to genetics, i would suggest you to keep a change in your workout routine, ask your trainer to give you different workput routines and exercises. go on more effective dieting programe. all the best..
