Newbie (Weight Loss Help Needed)

I'm a newbie who is very serious about losing weight and would like to get some help / advice. Basically, I would like to determine how many calories I should consume / burn in a day. The online calorie tools that I have used, give me a range of 2600-3400 calories a day. I have provided a list of items which should help determine this.

  1. I am a 6 foot tall male who weighs approx. 215 lbs. My target weight is 175 lbs.
  2. I walk / jog / run on a treadmill 6-7 days and week for approx. 30-40 min. and mix in a light workout with free weights 3-4 days a week.
  3. I have a desk job, so 8-9 hours of my day are spent at my desk (42-45 hours a week).
  4. I have completely cut out soda and beer out of my diet. After seeing results, I will have an occasional beer or coke.

My goal is to weigh 175 lbs by August 2010. Is this target realistic? Any help / input is appreciated.
