Free Certification

I know there is an abundance of people trained as personal trainers but will anybody pay to train me?

If I proved to an employer (major phytness center maybe?) that I had the charisma to sell thier products and somebody that could draw in more clients for them will they train me?

So far I've gotten a resounding "no" so this is where my search ends.

I'm a business student and I don't have $700 to spend on more schooling.

There are a lot of people already out there with certs. If someone is hiring, there will be someone available. You would have to make yourself a LOT more attractive to an employer than all other available candidates for them to pay for your certs. In short, I'd be surprised.

I'm guessing that they used to do traineeships and stuff before for it but they don't now. There are different payment options for study and stuff. Just think of the benefits for the future

You'd probably have to work for a really really low-end employer, someone who cannot afford to compensate someone with a certification (or several).

Remember that many personal trainers get at LEAST one certification. Different certification organizations do things differently, so having a couple will cover your bases to a prospective employer better.

I know that there are traineeships out there to become qualified, but the sources for them are few and far between. I did see an ad for a Cert III in Fitness traineeship at PCYC the other day, which doesn't pay a lot ($AU 10-14) and takes up a year...and Cert III only qualifies you to do gym instruction and run group classes for low-risk clients - no personal training.

How much does this certification cost anyway? And the amount of time involved ? Considering the medium time and money required to get a personal trainer certification could someone make an estimate?
