Bad Carbs..

i'm come from the school of Atkins and south beach where I believe all "bad carbs" are evil and should be avoided like the plague, but I've been doing low cal for the past few months instead of either of those diets and I still try to avoid them, but was wondering are some less evil than others. Also, how much do they really affect your weight loss if you have some in moderation?

I've heard some people say it's ALL about the calories, but I still feel 1500 cals of protien and good carbs i'm gonna lose weight more effectively than if I have 500 cals from bad carbs and 1000 from good carbs and protien.

So, one question is are all bad carbs created equal? Are white rice, bread, potatoes, pasta, sauces with sugar in them all equally bad in terms of weight loss, or are some more acceptable than others? The south beach doc says white bread is actually worse than straight sugar. I love white rice and was allowing myself to eat it a few times a week, but eventually cut it out altogether. I've started using the light wonder bread which is only 40 cals per slice because I love turkey sandwhiches and tuna salad sandwhiches and they don't taste good on wheat bread at all. i figure a couple of slices of that a day shouldn't slow me down.

In general, the less processed a food is the better it is for you. So white potatoes, bananas, etc. have a high glycemic index and therefor are considered "bad" carbs but they are also pretty rich in vitamins and fiber, so I think they are much better for you than white bread and white rice, for example which have had most of the natural vitamins and fibre "processed" out of them. Brown rice is not that much different in taste than white rice, in fact I like it better myself. I have tried wraps in place of bread (oat bran and whole wheat type), but I mostly just put my turkey between 2 slices of cheese and make a "breadless" sandwich.

its all about the balance - the right foods in the right places. Healthy fats (nuts, egg yolk, seeds etc) can actually intensify your fat burning process

Take balanced diet eat green leafy vegetables and fruits which are high in nutrients and fiber. Carbohydrates are important because it gives energy to our body but should be taken in moderate. Avoid processed food like white bread, white rice and pasta etc but sometimes for taste you can take it but not often.

I am totally agree with you as it is something really very beneficial to us and it is required that we need to follow all these.

Thanks
