G'day, I should have posted here first. I am 55 years old and used to be (decades ago) a BB. Marriages, raising kids and "life" generally got in my way. Now I am going through my second divorce and made some "life" decissions to be what I want to be.
I am looking for work and Xmas 2008 was a defining moment. I looked in the mirror and saw a stranger and a body I had to do something about. I just wanna be me again, and I am now very close to the person I want to be seen to be.
My before and after pics are on my profile, I lost 65lbs+ and did this with significant physical disabilities. I have only followed two career paths in my life, so I am going back to the Security Industry, which I am very familiar with. I have done everything from bodyguard to armed high security prison escourts and armed payroll deliveries. Mostly back then I worked for a company and as I had Public Service training they used me for most of the armed duties, then after an accident (broke back in 7 or 8 places, both knees destroyed, neck, hip and ankle) I went into Training (as a trainer), and a Grade One Base Station radio operator. (the only grade one base station in OZ at the time).
To go back to this Industry I had to have physical strength, fitness, and a look of authority as well as being able to deliver. My latest job application and some requirements were...
quote:
"Physical Control & Restraint Technique Training
This component involves a degree of physical exertion and strong physical contact, e.g. barging, tackling, restraining. Techniques include punching, kicking, baton use, applying physical restraint devices, joint locks, unbalancing, leverage, pressure point control and applying pain as a stimulus to enforce compliance." end quote.....
Walk in the park for me !!
If I was not ready to step up for this component, I would not have applied. I had an encounter a few weeks ago, where a guy on drugs went psycho and I used all above techniques on this slaughter house worker, to prevent him from hurting himself and others. It was a 13 minute battle where he lost a molar and was in hospital for 4 days, and I got a black eye, teeth scars in my forearm (his teeth) and skin torn off my knees like 3rd degree burns. It was good for me to be able to do this at 55 years old when many younger guys around the situation went pale and froze up with fear.
So I am still working out and getting stronger each day. I need a job badly so I have to be better than the young guys by far and look that way, I am getting there, and this is the future I have chosen to do for rent and food. I also became angry after my last wife left me, and I channel that anger into positive energy to give me the motivation I use to achieve my goals and it helps with confrontation, I enjoyed that fight and look forward to the next.
