blogging for motivation

Hi - a little about myself...

I am 32 years old, married with two young kids. Ever since high-school, I have always worked-out. The older I get, the less I work out though. These days, I usually take August thru December off and just like most of the world, start back up in January.

I am glad that I do workout those 6-7 months a year as I would not be in the shape (decent) that I am currently in. The issue I have with it is that I gain all of the fat back, lose muscle and become weaker during fall/winter months. I don’t usually gain too much weight back but I do lose muscle and gain fat back.

My plan is to start back up on November 16th by following the P90X fitness program and nutrition plan. I also decided to create a blog and post before and after pictures on it as well as daily updates. Having a blog will definitely hold me accountable and motivate me to get in the best shape of my life. I am thinking if this fails, I guess my body was always meant to have extra fat on it.

I signed up to this forum to get answers to questions I may have and to help others if I can.

Welcome! Are you going to continue to stop working out from August - December? P90X won't help you if you do that.

so why do you take time off???? and of course if you take 4-5 months off your going to lose muslce it use to the intense labor then it just stops you need to keep the workout up. also when you are not working out your going to need to keep on your diet make sure you are eating good. do you do any sort of cardio or resistance trainging in the time off if you did you woldn't have to worrie about getting out of shape

My concern is this: from what I have heard about P90X, it is a fairly intense program. Not that that's a bad thing...I just don't know if that's the routine I would recommend for someone who is having such a tough time sticking to a consistent exercise routine. You need to find a routine that you can do pretty much every day, week after week, month after month, year after year. I would rather you walk 30 minutes a day, EVERY DAY, then to do P90X for a few months, then put it in neutral. Just something to think about. Small, consistent changes are better than radical, unsustainable ones.

Why do you take time off? I train all year around, I prolly slcken off when I have 2 weeks holidays at Christmas time and that is it

Welcome to the forums :)
