Right now I'm probably in better shape than I have been in a long time, and improving still.
One thing that hasn't improved though is the "knots" I get in my neck, upper back and shoulders (traps and surrounding muscles).
For the past 8 weeks I've done more stretching than I ever have, increased both strength and ROM of the muscles, and improved my posture significantly and thought I would see these knots disappear, but every time I go get a massage the therapist says my upper back is a "mess." In fact right now they seem to be worse.
Right now I've got a nice knot in my right trap and have been rolling on a tennis ball for about a week trying to get it to release.
I was hoping the increased flexibility, increased strength, and regular massage would clear this up. I'm on a recovery week right now consisting of primarily core, cardio, stretching and light resistance and hope it goes away.
Oh yeah, and my nutrition is probably more-balanced than it ever has been too, so I don't think it's a nutrient deficiency of any kind. I don't think...
Any advice or prior experience? TIA
