The 'Ripped' Look

I've been following my training and diet regime for around 2 and a half months now. I'm 6'2" and did weigh 18 stone (252 lb) and I've managed to get myself down to 16 stone (224 lb). I want to lose another 10-15 lbs of fat which should hopefully be done by the middle of next month.

Once that's achieved I'm going to look pretty good I think. I have a balanced weight training regime which I do twice a week incororating Deadlifts, Squats, Chest Press, Cleans etc. and I can already see nicely defined muscle under the fat I have to lose over the next month or so!

However I'm going on holiday in May and I would really like to be 'ripped' for this. My present diet is excellent (even if I do say so myself!) and typically consists of:

Breakfast: Weetabix + Semi Skimmed Milk
Morning Snack: Fruit
Lunch: Wholemeal Chicken / Tuna / Ham Sandwich & Soup
Afternoon Snack: Fruit + Oat Bar
Post Workout: Protein Shake + Nutri Grain Bar
Dinner: Stir Fry Veg + Chicken or Steak / Fish / Chicken & Vegetables
Late: Protein Shake or a Wholemeal Chicken Sandwich

This is usually around 2500 - 2800 calories.

I also do cardio 2-3 times per week and play football (soccer!) so I'm usually active at least 5 times per week.

Once I've dropped the excees fat I'm carrying, how much of a change am I going to have to make to my overall regime and Diet to try and shed the last layer of fat to get 'ripped'? Should I focus more on Cardio than weights? And when should I start the cutting from for best results? Do I have to change what I'm eating?

Also this site has been invaluable to me also - thanks in advance!

Your diet seems ok, if you feel you already have some good muscle built up and you're after the 'cut' look for May. I would suggest concentrating on Cardio and depending on your weight training, decreasing the weight and increasing the reps and sets.
=)

Your diet could actually use a bit of tweaking. A Nutrigrain bar? Seriously? You think that's an excellent choice? It's highly processed and contains nothing for you. I don't know what's in the oat bar... is this homemade? If it's not I'm going to venture a guess and say that it has no protein in it, and it's processed. Your dinner and lunch look good...I don't know what's in Wheetabix cereal.. is there protein and fiber in it, or is it just a cereal that "looks healthy" ?

The Nutrigrain bar is simply some high GI carbohydrate I have after a workout to help restore Glycogen. I eat them are because they're cheap and mostly carbs.

I do make my own oat bars and they contain Oats, Dried Mango, Sugar, Apricot and Protein Powder and will usually have these 1-2 hours before I start my workout. If I haven't got around to making any I'll sometimes buy some Flapjack bars that are a little higher in fat than my homemade version but still have Carbs in for my workout.

Weetabix are one of the better Cereals and are Wholegrain and high in fibre.

I went to their website... 4g fiber and 4g protein in that Wheetabix isn't what I would call a high source of either. If you want breakfast cereal something like Kashi GoLean or GoLean Crunch would give you much higher amounts of both fiber and protein for your breakfast.

What are the nutrition stats for the oat bars you make? My apologies if my first post sounded snarky or bitchy...it's just a pet peeve of mine for anyone to claim thair diet is excellent and then proceed to list processed foods that are assumed by the majority of the uninformed public to be "healthy". I believe that no one has a perfect diet, and things can always be improved or tweaked, this is why you're posting, correct? Your post sounded defensive, so I am sorry if I made you feel like you have to defend yourself, this isn't my goal.
