Some great articles that helped me (should be stickied)

these really reminded me of the best exercises for all the muscle groups;
its a good way to see some variations and use them to break through a plateau.
they'r really acurate in their info too. i really think these should be put into the weightlifting sticky.

top 5 quad exercises and why

top 5 hamstring exercises and why

top 5 back exercises and why

top 5 tricep exercises and why

top 5 bicep exercises and why

i read most of the information; i looked over all of them. very good stuff. and they dont drag on(short and sweet). they have videos to show form on how to do them too.
it will give you some ideas for variation!

Very good post, Jon. :)

Best regards,

Chillen

The only problem is that they seem to be pieces of a jigsaw and seem to leave out relevant info. Instead of finding out about the best back or triceps exercise (they seem to have left out deadlift), why not find out about doing compounds so that you hit multiple muscles. Some people are unaware of the need not to isolate so much and focus on compounds.

All in all, pretty good stuff, though the deadlift omission is pretty glaring (and surprising). Nevertheless, a good read.

Of course deadlifts are part of this list, but I intend to target exercises that train the upper and mid back directly. For more information on deadlifts and other lower back exercises, see my post about the 5 best exercises for hamstrings.
he DOES mention that deadlifts are the best back builder, i believe. he just omits it because it is in the hamstring top 5, and he wants to focus more on upper back movements instead of a hip dominant movement :]

thanks for the links
