hay people

hay, my names Dave (if u didn't guess)

im 24, 6,3ish and acording to my scales im 241.8 pds

if im not wrong this places me as obese, which as a former health nut bothers me alot. (going from 13st in a space of about one and a half years)

the issue is i have a couple of health issues which have reared their head in the last couple of years, first is called cystic fibrosis, second is hyper extending joints, i have had both of these all my life (CF is genetic and HEJ i have just had since birth) but they have only just started acting up.

so basically i cant do anything impact at all, as an example, i bought myself an exercise bike and spent 20 minutes a day on it, lost a bit of fat but my knees gave in VERY quickly and i was reduced to walking sticks for about 2/3 months.

i should point out that i am incapable of doing things half arsed, if i do something i gotta do it EVERY day to keep myself interested

I'm thinking of swimming but tbh I'm a bit ashamed of my beach ball stomach. i want to hit the gym for a while first so i can at least tone up a bit.

any help that anyone can volunteer will be very gratefully received.....seriously VERY gratefully.

more text than i meant to write but hay an intros an intro :D

Welcome Dave!

I don't know much about CF, but it sounds like you need to take it slow and ease your way into working out. Since you are wanting to lose some weight before swimming you should take a look at your food intake. Read the sticky about Nutrition to get started and feel free to ask us anything!

Good Luck!

I don't know anything about CF either. Whatever you do, consult with your physician beforehand.

As for swimming, do not be ashamed of being overweight at the pool. When I see someone who is overweight I think at least that person is trying to improve himself, unlike the millions of people who are overweight and not exercising.
