Walking/More

Hello everyone I just had a few questions.

Male
Age : 22
Weight 228 pounds
Height 6'3

Goal 200 (body build is that of a football player)

I am 22 years old I been a desk jockey for the past 5 years so I packed on some weight and looking to get it off.
I am moving to my grandparents city so I will be hiking/camping/hunting/fishing with my grandpa so time to shred the weight now that I have motivation.

I am currently walking between 14-28 miles a week.

I do a minimum of 2 miles a night with my dog (helps her arthritics) then few hours later if its not freezing out I will do 2 more miles. For some reason I can't do 4 straight miles in 1 go yet.

Sadly the past 5 days has not only been cold but heavy wind so I have done 16 miles (my "start day" is on Monday)

Am I over doing it? I been at it for about 2 weeks now.

I plan to start doing arms/ab workout 3 times a week starting next week.

The only issue I have is atm I can't eat the way I should.

In the process of moving and with the current prices its expensive to get protein/veggies in my diet.

Would lifting be a waste of time or would it be more so not as fruitful as if I got the recommended protein etc?

Once I move I plan to get my garden going to solve part of my issue.

Thank you.

*edit*

Forgot to mention I am doing 32-35 mins for every 2 miles. So in the ball park of 16-18 min miles. Not sure if that is considered a fast walk or not.

If you're looking to lose 28 pounds, an "abs/arms" workout is a waste of time.

If time is the issue, ditch the "abs/arms" and perform some exercises which engage your core along with your major muscle groups, push-ups, pull-ups, lunges, and high intensity interval cardio are the types of exercises which will give your body the stimulus it needs to change.

Walking may give you results at first, but if you do not progress your workout, you will not continue to get results and this is the reason why 80% of the people who goto the gym don't get results.

Getting into a routine is great, sticking to the same routine and reaching plateau is not.
