What would you consider heavy?

Oh, you were talking about health. I was talking about looks..

To me, males start looking chubby at 15+ BF and fat at 20+

My scale :
20< = fat
15< = chubby
12 - 14 = Normal
<11 = Lean

Yeah, that sounds about right, if we're talking about looks. But I honestly don't see why anyone (males, anyway - women look more scrumptious with curves), should be over about 10%. Who isn't a powerlifter, I suppose.

Anyone have some data for benefits to carrying that extra weight?

Assuming a guy weight trains with say 10-15% bodyfat. At what weight would you consider him to be heavy or big?

Big is a relative term. I would consider anyone over 250lbs and in the above BF range to be pretty big.

On the flip side, I am big (295lbs) and I felt small at lunch today. :D I sat next to one of the widest guys I have ever seen. (he's down to 361lbs now) The guys I worked with said I looked like a little kid next to him. That dude has the widest back I have ever seen.

Back to the perception of big. We are eating and the idea of desert comes up. I am not down with too much desert right now since I want to stay under 300lbs. I state this at the table and end up taking some comments about being small.

That does not happen all that often.

So, to some people I am big, to others I am small. Perception is the name of the game.

I'm with G, 250+ with a decent bf% is big imo.

And Phate, anything above 12% for a male is sloppy. There isn't much reason to go too far above 12, especially if you want to look good.

Sure am. Don't worry, me too. I'm sittin around a husky 15%, and I hate it. Everyone would be shocked at how much bigger you look sub 10%. Not even to be mean, but look at chillen. He's only like a 150lb, and he looks 175. Now imagine you at 220 shredded, seksi.

What are you, banking on yourself?

Naw. MIT and Tokyo U have already busted open the pluripotentiality of cells. Won't be long now.

But my nanotechnology will be superior to any products of genetic engineering. Much more versatile - at least for the first few hundred years.

I decided to get a hydrostatic body fat test done on Friday morning. I just about fell over when they told me my bodyfat was 19%. I'm a girl and I think that's absolutely disgusting. Honestly, I was horrified. I almost starting crying. I've never been this fat in my life.

19% of my body weight is fat. OK, let's do the math here. I weigh 152 pounds. 152 x 19% = 28.9 POUNDS OF FAT. That's 28.9 miles of extra blood vessels my poor heart has to pump blood through.

Do you know what 28.9 pounds of fat looks like? This times 29. Blech.

Why don't I see it under my skin? I don't (although that would be nice. I'm awfully vascular). It must be fat inside my torso --- the worst kind of fat. The kind that kills you. I'm absolutely sick. I'm going to have to work my a$$ off ... no more of this "maintenance" crap. It's time for some serious working out.

I'm disgusted with myself.

Women have higher BF% than men naturally, if you take off about 8-10% then that's about the figure you need to use to compare yourself to a guy.
Don't stress 19% bf on a woman is very normal and healthy

19% on a female is very normal and not fat all. Closer to athletic than fat.

Are you guys sure about that? The guys at the lab didn't seem to think 19% was that bad, but when I looked at that glob of fat and multiplied it by 19, I just about threw up. That's in my body. Blech.

I'm still going to work out a lot smarter now. The older I get, the harder it's going to be to maintain what I've got ... and I really don't want to hit that 20% mark.

I need more muscle ...

I think I'm mentally disturbed and have body dysmorphic syndrome now :D

Have to correct you, boss.

Thats a rock-on-solid, 161 pounds of pure haoooge mass, baby! :)

:yelrotflmao:

And, the weights whimper when I go to train and I give them pain. Its not the other way around.

Best to all on the forum!

Be all you can be.........Make the weight whimper and cry........because you try.........
