Hi! New, lost a lot of weight, now focusing on tone

Hi there!

I joined about a month ago. I've been posting on the weight loss forum, but reading/lurking over here. Decided I'd better say hello.

I got very serious about losing this weight, and with the help of a doctor, relearning how to eat right, and being diligent about exercise, I've taken off 70 pounds so far. I'm in that area of the final 5, but now I'm ready to start shifting my focus to the body fat % and getting what I have toned up even better.

The Rundown:
Age: 39
Height: 5'9"

Started 01/31/08
Weight: 241.6 lbs
BMI: 35.7
% Body Fat: 47

As of 08/15/08
Weight: 171.5 lbs
BMI: 25.3
% Body Fat: 29.2

Goal weight and BMI are ?? but I'd ultimately like to get down to 22-25% body fat.

Another thing I REALLY need to work on is my butt. There's a good bit of solidity back there, but its kinda flattened out... with the weight loss I'm dealing with some loose skin/fat, and that's one area of concern. So I'm embarassed to say it, but my butt's sagging! It would look great if I could get the jiggly bits off of it.

For my workout regimen, belly dance and cardio belly dance... both classes and using DVDs, and martial arts helped with the first 60 pounds, and I reintroduced weights into my routine a few weeks ago. I used to do a lot of weight lifting in my high school and college days, so it was easy to remember how to do things, just getting the strength back is the tricky part.

Ok, that's it for now. I'll be reading through the 'where to start' sticky and asking questions soon enough. I've seen a lot of great info in that sticky and in this forum so far, can't wait to delve further!

Well done for the weight loss! Thats some hard work you must of put in. :)

So im guessing your now wanting to look a bit more firm? Gain a little muscle mass?

Well yea you will need a lifting routine. Good luck anyway.

Yeah, I know I need a weight lifting/strength training/muscle building routine. I kinda knew in the back of my skull all along, and my (long time ago) ex boyfriend who I used to lift with reminded me. He's probably laughing his ass off right about now. Not really, he's been pretty supportive too.

Its been hard work, but being able to see the results visibly every time I look in the mirror (what's that? Ab definition? :eek2:) and seeing the numbers on the scale go down... its been well worth it.

That, and my flexibility is returning and improving. Makes my husband happy.:p
