Eating a lot of oranges and cereal at night....

I was just wondering if i should worry about all the sugar in oranges and the carbs in cereal (Kellogs Corn Flakes) especially since i crave cereal at night. Im trying to lose those tricky last 10lbs and havent made any progress for the last 4 weeks despite eating at a 400 calorie deficit.

I wouldn't worry about the oranges, as long as you are eating oranges rather than drinking orange juice. Drinking a glass of juice quickly gives you the sugars and calories of multiple oranges, but none of the fiber which helps you feel full.

Cereal may be more calorie-dense than desirable, though. Most dry cereals also have a high glycemic index, which may not be desirable other than during or immediately after athletic activity. Plain oatmeal has a lower glycemic index and more fiber than most other cereals.

Yes. You should be worrying about it. You don't want anything carb heavy especially as your last meal. Cereal is bad, and the fructose in oranges is just as bad.

I too would not be downing cornflakes at night, especially at the end of a serious cut.

How many carb grams are you taking in per day and from what sources besides cornflakes??

Get shot of both. The last bit you wish to lose is always the hardest and it will take small tweaks in your diet to shift it.

Although the cornflakes and all the fructose are pretty big tweaks. Lower carbs, increase fat. Ive been eating carbs on for breakfast them pre and post WO and a lot of cheese as a final meal pre bed, and i've been losing at the expected rate.

I havent been keeping track of carb grams, but lately ive been having a 6-inch sub from subway like 3 times a week, and for breakfast i normally have about 25 grams, plus cereal at night.

Dude...it's calories in vs. calories out. The body is constantly burning/using calories to run itself: more then you need at any given moment is stored as fat. Don't eat enough, the body spins-up some glucose out of fat. We're constantly exchanging into and out-of our fat....it's just a frigin' fuel-tank!

I'm willing to bet, since you haven't lost anything in the last 4 weeks, that if you kept uber-track of your eating (count calories)...you'd find, to your surprise & dismay, that you're actually eating a wee bit more then you realize. Perhaps about 400 calories more per day then you realize? ;)

Here's a little secret: when your hungry at night you'll still feel hungry unless you really satisfy that monster. If you eat a little, you're still actually hungry...so why eat anything at all? Just ignore it, drown it with water or go to sleep. So I'm saying, just don't eat.

If you can figure out a way to do that, please let me know! ;) :D

But let me answer the question you didn't ask: YES; you have to be really f-in hungry to lose weight. It's not fun, it's annoying and it's trying....but it's a means to an end...so get on that bitch & ride it!
