Cutting and weights

okay so im about 5 weeks into my cut, and out of curiosity im wondering what should be happening with the amount that I am lifting. For example, my squat keeps steadily going up as with my deadlift as I switched to a 5x5 but other things like my bench are losing a bit of weight. Does this mean that I am losing muscle tissue? or is this a normal factor to a cut. My bench has gone down about 5 lbs. and I have lost about 4 lbs.

Is this more of a diet issue? maybe i just need more carbs pre workout?

You shouldn't be losing strength. Perhaps you are now more correctly targeting muscle groups in your compound exersizes (such as the benchpress) since you've started. If you were using a higher % of arm muscle to do the exersize before, you may have been able to lift more, but with poor form, were doing less for your chest.

Others please correct me if I'm wrong...

some actually gain strength some lose dont worry,as long as you are lifting aprox the same you shouldnt lose any muscle, and thats all you need to worry about because you wont gain any anyway.

If you're going to be cutting calories for any decent length of time then you're almost certainly going to lose some muscle, I'm afraid that's just a fact. If you're not eating enough to sustain your current weight which is what losing weight is all about then that also means that you won't have enough calories to sustain the mucle either.
So long as you're lifts aren't going down too much compared to the weight you're losing then I wouldn't worry too much

Maybe try keeping track of the coefficients of your major lifts to use as a guide? If you're losing weight in the right way then your coefficients should rise as you drop weight

if your squat and deadlift are rising, who cares if bench drops 5lbs?
